I guess this thread plays into what many peoples issue with Kylo Ren is that beyond that first scene in force awakens where we see him hold the laser bolt, we have never really seen Kylo show his strength with the force, arguably his his deception to slay Snoke could be interpreted that way, but we have certainly never seen anything to back up Snokes claim that he is so strong that the light side of the force needed to create someone (Rey) to rival him in strength in the light. Personaly I think they have portaryed it in a way that it feels if Rey even had a day of training the Kylo wouldn't stand a chance.

Obviously the argument many have is that his strength doesn't matter as people are enjoying the kind of coming of age villian journey which we are seeing and are all in on the almost ross and rachel vibe of will he won't he turn back to the light side.

    Well Vader still killed Obi-Wan.

I didn't mean IMMEDIATELY after sustaining major injuries - I meant after his horrific reconstruction.

I agree that there is this sentiment (at least among SW fans who were introduced to the franchise via the OT), but I don't understand why. There has been little ambiguity about Kylo's trajectory. For Kylo it seems this trilogy is record of his descent into darkness. He wavers initially when there are more personal costs and stakes to be weighed (i.e. killing his parents), but his commitment to darkness has seemed steadfast. Doubly so after TLJ where he literally assumes the role of the Supreme Leader. I even thought Snoke was meant to be narrating (for the benefit of the audience) the hardening of Kylo's character during the Throne Room betrayal.

"Where there was conflict, I now sense resolve; Where there was weakness, strength. Complete your training, and fulfill your destiny."
