RUMOR Hayden Christensen to return in Episode 8.

If that were to happen id want him to be a hermit on some planet idk am excited to see how the past influences the new generation, but not as main protagonists

I think it would be great to see Hayden redeemed in the classic Star Wars spirit.

They could take Hayden, do the whole thing and then create a digital Sebastian Shaw to paste his face on Hayden's

I like the idea, I think Lucas put Hayden in ROTJ thinking about the new trilogy.

 

Bringing him back as a Force Ghost would be great, especially if Kylo gets a redemption arc (which I could totally see,since redemption is one of the main themes of SW). Imagine that all this time, Kylo has been worshiping Vader ... and then Anakin shows up and says (metaphorically), "No, you've got it all wrong."

 

It's very interesting the way Kylo is presented in the trailer. When he's showing of with other first order members, he's charismatic, scary, extremely violent. But very different in private, and I particularly talk about this shot, with the camera upper than him, which shows vulnerability, almost like a sad kid. I definitely think he's a Skywalker. Rey and him would do the opposite arch (Rey falling to Darkness and Kylo going to the light side).

To be fair, Hayden was horrible in Star Wars, but Sam L Jackson was, I mean, it doesn't mean nothing. Acting in front of a green screen is difficult (without direction, even more). The reasons he turn to the Dark Side are not clear, there's not enough material to work with as an actor. Such movies, with a guy turning from good to bad, should have centered on that (episode I should start on Tatooine).

Nonetheless, if you put Hamill and Christensen careers to compare, I think Hamill has shown more capabilities than Hayden over the years, but I think Hayden is not a bad actor at all.

 

Anakin comes back from the dead. Kylo Ren, having studied acting at Juilliard, teaches Hayden Christensen how to finally put on a convincing performance.

 

My main issue with Hayden coming back in any form is that he was the actor in Prequels which was 20 years before the OT. The actor who played Darth in the OT looked nothing like him and all of a sudden we get a young force ghost of Anakin as Hayden? This didn't happen with either Yoda or Kenobi....they stayed old! So now 30 more years have passed since we saw that force ghost (in timeline years) and he is who we have to deal with. I truly only want to see him as a Ghost as a conscience for Luke to enforce staying away from Dark side. I hope his role is NO bigger than that!

 

Anakin's appearance was changed to show him before he turned to the dark side, which kind of makes sense.

Yoda and Obi Wan never turned evil, effectively ceasing to become the person they were at that time.

I think they should leave him out of it now, but I wouldn't complain if he made a brief appearance in say, a dream, Luke has. I don't know if force ghosts will fit the films today. Just a hunch.

 

Well, I don't see Rey falling to the Dark Side, personally, but I definitely think Kylo is going to be more layered and complicated than any SW villain we've seen to date (with the possible exception of RotJ Vader). Your comment about his vulnerability is spot on!

 

I disagree.
Hayden was in many other movies besides Star Wars. And some of his movies where praised by critics. Also his acting in these movies.

Hamill really did not have any career outside of Star Wars.

 

I know that I will be reamed for this but I have to say it.

Hayden Christiansen should not be blamed for George Lucas's Laziness. There were many scenes wher Hayden did amazingly. His eyes told me a lot. whenever he looked and Padme I knew he was in love. Instead of being afraid of Hayden Christiansen coming back because of bad acting, we should look at this as a second chance for Hayden to see if with a better script and Director if he could do a good job. I personally think that it was not his acting or Natalie Portman's that made the movies smell really bad. George got over excited about Computer Effects, which to be fair were beautiful for the most part. but he relied on them and didn't focus on the story enough. He gave us a risky story in the first place and did't deliver it well. First of all there was so much dialogue that even Sam Jackson had a difficult time making sound good.
I could go on a huge rant of thing tht could have been changed to make the prequels better. but overall I enjoy them. They were the films of my childhood and on a film basis are actually really good movies. Our expectations were so high that when we were delivered Jar Jar Binks and din't get Chewbacca till Episode III it was a disappointment. There are actually a lot of things better about the prequels. But there are just more things better with the original series.

Now as far as should he play Anakin because yes it is 50 years later. Arguments could be made to suggest yes he should.

1. If they are flashback to the clone Wars then yes
2. If he is resurrected then yes. if he is being brought back to life why does he have to be old and who else would play him. Sebastian Shaw is dead.
3. Force Ghost, Why not? They changed it so that Hayden was the Anakin Ghost at the end of Jedi. I personally like this change because we as the viewers never knew Anakin as the older 45 year old middle aged man. Furthermore that when anakin died in Jedi I believe that he died as Darth Vader still, and Anakin's True self died back on Mustafar. Vader had only begaun to be his old self again as he died. becoming one with the force would finally allow Anakin to be himself and he only knew what he looked like from before the burn scars so it is logical that they have anakin be the younger Anakin. That being said they could use make up to make Hayden look like a 45 year old. They did it in Harry Potter and it worked okay.

Lastly Hayden Christiansen is Darth Vader / Anakin Skywalker now. If they were to bring him in I would much prefer Hayden come back to do it than him be recast.
These are just my thoughts.

 

You are right. I agree that Hamill was type-casted and we don't have many examples of his acting, though he's a great voice talent and personally I like him more than Hayden, I find him more charismatic and original in the way he acts.

A great movie with Hayden was Shattered Glass. Actually, Shattered Glass is a kind of fall to the dark side but better written, and you can see there how his acting improves.

 

In the context of the whole saga it does make more sense for Hayden to play Anakin than a recast. I like the following idea:

It also aligns with what Obi Wan says to Luke in Jedi about him ceasing to be Anakin and becoming Vader.

Give HC proper direction and a decent script and he'll be fine!

I agree, it makes sense to keep the same actors if they're available, or just not have Anakin at all. Although, if Ben or Yoda come back as force ghosts and Anakin doesn't, that will need a good explanation to justify his absence.

 

That's kinda my thought.

 

What in the living force happened to his HAIR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 

I'm kinda thinking in a way that Plan B by Snoke and Kylo would be to try to clone Vader/Anakin and to do so they'd need his persona items such as DNA(from Luke),Saber,etc in order to perform the cloning or ritual or what not.

That's the only thing I can think of when talking about bringing back hayden as darth for ep 8
