Shoot me down guys if it's been mentioned before, but does anyone else think the stories regarding Hayden C being sent for fitness/training regimes might not be for Episode VIII but actually for Rogue One? If Vader is supposed to be in battle scenes...

Interesting if true, and I wouldn't be against it

Unless there is going to be a scene where he gets his a** handed to him and his mask breaks open like the recently revealed events on Malachor, I say why would they bother?

It just doesn't need to be him since the character is covered from head to foot, is re-voiced by James Earl Jones, and will most likely only be in the movie for a matter of seconds, much like Luke's involvement in TFA. I wouldn' be surprised if Hayden Christensen offers to do it for free, though - his IMDb page is looking quite sparse at the moment....

Lol enough with the hate. I mean, I am not the biggest fan of the prequels but we have to come to terms with the facts that at one point, he was Anakin Skywalker and none of our criticism and crude remarks will change that. And his performance was affected by the directing. So I would not really mind if he comes back to wear the Darth Vader suit this time. As long as they include some fighting scenes as we have seen in Rebels and in the Vader Down series that would be cool.

If we're just getting Vader and none of him out of the suit, I don't see the reasoning to bringing Hayden back to be in the suit. I understand the reasoning why he was in the suit for RotS, and I'm actually in the pro-Hayden in VIII camp, but I don't think he needs to be in RO.

i thought he was terrible in the PT, but i don't blame him for his bad performance.
and i am 100% on the bus with letting him redeem himself with the franchise in some fashion.

To be honest, he is not bulky and tall enough.
Personally I have nothing against H.Christensen.
Should he get a chance to rehabilitate?
Maybe, but he already missed two opportunitys to shine.

Isn't he too short? Hayden's only like 5'10" or so and Vader is supposed to be like 6'5" or taller. He was Vader in ROTS because all he had to do was be tied to a table and stand up and everything was CGI so tey could make everything bigger.

If he wants to redeem himself, he should stay away from future Star Wars movies and he should admit that his acting was far from perfect.
Many people would like to be in a Star Wars movie, he already starred in two Star Wars movies. (he got his fair share)
I would say hire a new guy as Darth Vader, someone who fits the suit and let do James Earl Jones the voice work. (or a voice imitator)
By the way I guess Disney will not hire H.Christensen for any Star Wars project.

Edit: Clouded? I don't mind HC, he was young (still is) and Lucas was not a big help to direct his hired actors, I know that.

Good for him, personally I have nothing against him, I admit that he is not the worst actor ever, but far away from being the best also.
Maybe Disney plans a new Darth Vader origin movie and they should consider to give H.Christensen the opportunity to direct it to redeem himself.

I find it HIGHLY unlikely that if Hayden C. was in Rogue One somehow it wouldn't have leaked already... (r2-d2)

    That's extremely unfair.

Aside from Ian McDiarmid and Ewan McGregor, all of the acting is terrible in the prequels....and there's no way that Sam Jackson, Terence Stamp, Natalie Portman, Sir Christopher Lee and even McGregor in Episode II were as stiff and wooden as they were based on their talent. These are all skilled actors. Hell, you've only got to look at Portman's performance in Leon to see just how talented she was at even a very young age. The rest I mentioned aren't even open to debate, such are their careers.

The fact is that the actors had no control over the direction, the script or, and this is often forgotten, the takes that George decided to use. With all this in mind, Star Wars can never be a fair judge of Christensen's talent or lack therefore. So whether or not either movie created an actual opportunity is highly debatable.
    --- Double Post Merged, Apr 8, 2016, Original Post Date: Apr 8, 2016 ---
Not much else has leaked about the project though.

That said, I tend to agree that he's not in it. Ep 8 or 9 is are more likely IMO.

I don't wanted to be unfair, I just tried to be honest.
Nobody of the actors covered themselves in glory, but many fans needed a scapecoat.
His misfortune was, he was the weakest link of the cast back then.
No doubt that George Lucas has the responsibilty, he is the director, but H.C. is co-responsible for his performance.
To his defense, he was young and I guess overwhelmed playing against the green screen saying ridiculous lines.
With George Lucas sitting in a chair behind the monitors drinking coffee and instruting faster/more intense. (in a sitting dialog scene)
I guess many actors would start to lose their imagination and would look stiff on the set.
Let's skip this topic, poor guy good enough heat for his role as Anakin Skywalker.

To take up the cudgels for Hayden Christensen, he is in one of my favourite PT scenes:

I want him to be in the battle where the AT-AT's are. His ship would land, bridge would come down, he would step foot on the sand and say "ohh f*ck" and fly back to the death star.
