Help Us Decide on the SWNN Mobile Version of the Site

The SWNN desktop and mobile sites are two completely different sites. While we have full control on the desktop version of the site, we are very limited on the mobile front, since a separate company is handling it. Nowadays mobile sites are very tricky to maintain, because there are countless possibilities of phones, tablets, operating systems, browsers and so on. And there are always people who have issues displaying any site the proper way on their device.

Now we have the opportunity to change our mobile site with a more functional one, but there is a catch. We may need to disable our comments section just for the mobile users. Read on for more details and a poll which will greatly help us decide what to do in the future.





We've received some complaints in the past about our mobile site (mainly from Apple users) that it was not working properly or that some ads are being very intrusive (something that we never agreed on). Now we have a possibility to change the mobile site with a simpler one who is supposed to work better. The problem is that at this point the company that offers the new mobile site is not supporting comments since this is a third party addition which slows down sites. As you know our site is one of the few Star Wars news fan sites that has a comments section, which is also very active. We take great pride with our connection with our readers (including our Cantina forums) and this is something that is really important to us.



In the last few months we've seen a tendance that the traffic to our site is bigger from mobile devices compared to desktop computers. This is a trend that will surely continue in the same direction for the next years as well. So we wanted to reach out to you and ask you how important is our comments section when it comes to your mobile experience. We've already asked this question on Twitter, but people there rarely comment on articles, so it's important to hear your opinion as well. Again keep in mind that this is only regarding our mobile site. Don't forget there is always an option to click 'Use Desktop Site' on your mobile device from the settings and you will be seeing the site as it should appear on a desktop computer.
