The PT could be seen as a war for dominion over the future. Palpatine's machinations were very much geered toward this (obviously) and the entire trilogy was a set up for--

The OT, which existed very much in the moment. Survival was the agenda: we have to destroy the Death Star(s) now otherwise this will happen now. Now--

The ST, from what we know through spoilers and concept art, etc., is absolutely shot through with the past: fallen AT-AT's; the search for an old warrior; ancient light sabres; relics, artefacts and tombs. Is the ST a war for dominion of the past?

RotJ ended with the redemption of Anakin Skywalker, but this is something that would require the rewriting of Galactic history. Convincing the general populace that not only did this monstrous, truly evil villain turn back to the light but that he was also instrumental in the saving of the Galaxy would be a hard task. Who but Anakin's own family (and remnants of the Jedi Order) would ever believe it?

"History is written by the victors." Maybe the ST is a battle for that right: a conflict between those who want to promote the idea that a turn back from the Dark Side is possible and those who want Vader to remain a symbol of evil--those who still believe "fear will keep the local systems in line."

And if it is still pertinent, wouldn't that eventual history be what "The Journal of the Whills" was always intended to be....
