Hot Toys: The Sequel Trilogy

this weekend i got TLJ Rey from Hot Toys.

like all Hot Toys, she's stupidly cool and she comes with all sorts of fun accessories (including porgs!)



standard exterior box art is nice as usual.



interior box art was a happy surprise. love the contrast of the bright background!



always well-packaged/wrapped for shipping. you can see she comes with lots of extra hands an extra arm that makes her light saber light up, her blaster, staff, and she's got a base with two different looks, also a "motion" lightsaber that looks like she's swinging even if she's in a static position.



close up on the extra arm: there's a battery compartment here that gets covered by her arm wrap. it's such a tiny and delicate mechanism. TFA Kylo Ren has the same thing, but with the world's tiniest zipper on his sleeve.



all of her cool weapons. the light saber blade can be removed to put in the "light up" version, or if you want her to just hold the unactivated hilt. unfortunately she doesn't have anywhere to hang it on her costume that i can tell.



it will take some teasing and relaxing to get the draping parts of her costume to fall right (they always come out of the box a little crinkly).
if it doesn't relax, i'll steam it a little. Kylo Ren's costume is actually wired so you can position it, but i think that was a bad design choice because the wires are so tiny they break easily. glad they didn't do that here.



the porgs are cool because they actually have removable feet that you can position in different ways.
they can also come off the plastic bases if you want to give one to Chewie to eat.

all-in-all, she's pretty dang awesome.
still don't know if i'll get Kylo Ren or wait until we see what the ix version might look like.

you mean my old Ren? i can try to take pictures this evening.
i don't have the new Ren; he's not out yet and i'm still debating whether to get him. XD

 

these are actually Hot Toys (a Chinese company). Bandai is in Japan.
but yes, that doesn't change the fact that they are very expensive! XD

here's just some super quick snaps. sorry about the way the lighting washes all the contrast out.

the costume isn't quite right at all: the drape of the fabric is wrong, the way its layered is wrong, and the cut in the back is wrong.
that said, the hood is really cool and all the pleats are very nice.
the TLJ costume looks much more accurate.

 

unfortunately i sorta kinda recently moved and so much of my stuff is still packed while i quibble over purchasing new furniture (which i need desperately).

yeah, i used to be very into 1/6 as a hobby.
i built sooooo much stuff it was crazy.
i haven't in a long while now. i kind of miss it.

 

lots of little pieces are definitely sourced, but i also made tons of things from scratch or out of random other stuff.
at one time i had a really cool "hospital" room with a custom built adjustable hospital bed, a wheel chair, and tons of medical supplies that i meticulously pieced together. like i said, thinking back on it, it was kind of insane. i literally built an entire box of individually wrapped sterile gauze pads. now i wonder: why??? XD
i think making tiny things in this scale appealed to some compulsive part of my nature and i was under a lot of stress at the time, so it was relaxing.

i was working on some really cool custom things when i had to pack everything away.
now i have no idea whether i will ever get back to them.

 

ya know? it was definitely getting there. XD

you haven't seen but the tip of the ice berg. trust me ~ hahahahaha

re: Kylo Ren Ben ~ i can't believe i almost didn't buy this. he's ridiculously cool; the headscuplt is 100x more times amazing than the crummy promo pictures and as much as i don't like the cape, it's amazing the way it goes on and how it feels. his whole costume is much better than the one they constructed for TFA and it's actually removable (TFA's wasn't).

the white thing on his neck is the very thin packaging foam all HT figures are wrapped with (to avoid chaffing, etc.). i just forgot to remove it before i took the pictures.





Leia is gorgeous: a beautiful tribute to Carrie Fisher (my bad photos cannot do her justice).



she comes with the tiniest HT accessory i have ever seen! : D



my Solo family is complete. now i'm just waiting on dirty old man Luke, who should be arriving in the next couple of months. XD
