How did Kylo Ren obtain Darth Vader's mask?

    Since Ben Solo wasn't even born when Battle of Endor occured, what is your opinion on how did he got a hold of the mask?
    It's interesting to think that someone actually took Darth Vader's helmet literally moments after Luke set it on fire/or the next day when the fire was out. But judging by the amount of damage the helmet sustained, I think that it wasn't in fire for long after Luke left.
    I believe that it was either Snoke who was probably well concealed (in some crazy theory) or maybe relic smuggler/seller who eventually passed it to Kylo, or Kylo just killed him in the process of getting the mask.

    My point is that this tiny detail actually adds a lot to rest of the story. I do hope that they will address this question in new episode or in upcoming books.

    There is actually a book about Bazine Natal ("Perfect Weapon") - character in Maz's castle that reports to the First Order - in which she is contracted anonymously to find ex-stormtrooper and recover a package from him. She does and, while it's never revealed what's in the package nor who contracted her, there is a theory that the package was Vader's helmet (recovered from Endor by former storm trooper as a souvenir) and that the client was either Snoke or Kylo.

    Sounds interesting, but i don't think that's the case because all the stormtroopers were either dead or captured that day. Even if some of them avoided being captured and discarded their armour, I don't think that anybody would risk getting killed by Luke or Rebels just to get Vader's mask. But who knows, everything is possible.

    There were multiple stormtroopers and officers that got away (including Sinjir from Aftermath, for example). And, from Shattered Empire we learned that there were more Empire forces on Endor (they were engaged by the Rebellion the very next day). It is certainly possible that someone just accidentally found the pyre and took the mask because it's Vader's. But, as I said, this is just a theory - no one from story group or Lucasfilm confirmed this. :)

    Not just his helmet but also the ashes too.

    How the helmet and Luke's saber were retrieved are two great questions that I hope they will show or talk about in the next episodes.

    I wonder if Chief Chirpa and Logray made it out of the encounter alive?

    What if when Kylo is asking "Grandfather" to show him the power of the darkness, he's hoping to have another Force vision similar to Rey's when she touched the Lightsaber. Maybe Kylo had previously seen Vader in all his dark glory the first time he touched the helmet?

    Seeing as he's obsessed with his grandfather and will be fully educated about the battle of Endor, I imagine he went there and found the remains of the funeral pyre himself. I don't need any other convoluted explanation than that.

    I've read a lot on other forums where fans were bitching about the helmet having not fully melted and that just seemed bonkers. Darth Vader wore armour. He was badly burnt, so he's going to want heat resistant protective wear isn't he? That helmet wasn't plastic and within the SW universe, who knows what materials were at the Empire's disposal.

    I personally think that the helmet (and potentially some of the armor) potentially survived the pyre inferno based on its material composition and Luke himself kept it as a reminder of what can happen if he strayed from the light side...and it was the only thing that he had of his fathers. Thereafter, I think that Ben had seen it as a child, and as his Vader obsession grew more intense, he stole it from Luke.

    My theory is....Ben Solo pass to the DARK side of the FORCE.Did a person in the DARK side is a GOOD person?...NO.Ben Solo became Kylo Ren and he kill ALL Lukes jedi students.Luke DID NOT want to kill Ben because is Leia son.Luke have the helmet of his father(Darth Vader)BUT Kylo stole it from him.I think this is how it happen...:rolleyes:.

    Its explained in the Bazine Netal e-book, "The Perfect Weapon".
    Bazine Netal was also present in Maz Kanata's castle during 34ABY (TFA). Netal informed the First Order of the presence of Rey and Finn in Maz Kanata's castle.
