How do we know Palpatine is really dead?

One does not simply get yeeted over the only safety rail In the Empire and survive.

Unless...

 

Unless....someone forty years + into the future runs out of ideas....

 

Since kathleen kennedy and disney don’t really have a plan, anything is possible...

 

They have a mangled clone of their former Master to essence-transfer into; to run things by proxy, so they can hide for 30 more years, skip 2 films and then return.

 

All those acolytes were clones or he is in Rey.

or he will be back next time RJ randomly kills off the really cool new big bad too soon.

Xeven....you know, quite a few people didn't think Snoke was cool at all, in fact I suspect it was one of the reasons RJ killed him off.

 

Snoke (snok, proto indo-european root sneg-) may be inspired by the word snake. The snake is a big deal in myths. Palpatine is a force always pulling the strings of all evil behind the curtain-- in our consciousness. Palpatine is the devil, the archetype of ultimate evil within our collective unconscious. When we get a Hitler, or when we turn rotten ourselves, it comes from this same place in consciousness where Palpatine forever resides and sends poor copies of himself into the world, as the evil in us. He didn't kill Mace Windu and Padme or destroy the temple. He manipulated his puppet Anakin to do it. When he has been thrown down the tubes and out of bounds (to exegol. Gol= boundary/limit. Ex= outside of) he is ever-present trying to rise up inside of us, trying to get back in. He is not a physical thing you can kill, because he's inside your head. A phantom. It's up to each one of us to keep him down. He's as dead as you can be spiritually-- drained of everything sacred, strapped to a machine, and seated on a big dead flower, drained of its beauty, essence, life, sweet scent. He's the first emperor of evil, so every villain after him will be a copy of the same pattern-- a clone of an archetype. He is dead in consciousness, descended into the totally material, mechanistic underworld, whereas Jedi ascend to zero materiality into spiritual enlightenment. These represent two ends of the polarity-- spirit and matter.

 

Yeah, you can count me in that number. I thought he was just a cheap knockoff of the Emperor. Turns out, he really was. Terrific!

Except for two scenes in TLJ, Snoke was a hologram for most of his time in the ST. The idea that he was unkillable is ludicrous.

There may be another unkillable force behind him in a story, or the dark side itself in future movies. But he is the first recognizable thing formed as the first emperor, by the dark side-- the first formed pattern and personification of that evil force that has taken over the whole galaxy. So he is an archetypal figure. He will always be the first emperor, and anyone else will be a poor copy of the first thing. All villains are kicked out by the same force inside of us, in our consciousness. The message is you can't kill this thing. Nobody kills evil in a dual world where we have both good and evil, light and dark. You have to break the staff in half and make a yellow lightsaber somewhere in the middle of that pole of opposites that Rey carried around from day 1. Guard our better qualities by keeping down our more base qualities.

The devil is also an image, that is not the thing itself, but it is a reference to something not tangible. I can rip up a picture of the devil, and the idea behind that pattern is not destroyed. No one believes there is an actual little red man with devil horns and a pitchfork, pulling levers inside our shoulders. It's the message from that image that's important. No image of the devil is the right one, because the image is not the thing that we're referring to. No picture has been drawn of the actual devil, no picture has been drawn of the actual god.

 

I do really appreciate how TROS just made this idea explicit in the text. “Kill me and my spirit will pass into you as all the Sith live in me. You will be Empress. We will be one.” There is no “Palpatine”. It’s just a name for what form the evil is currently taking. Linking back to Maz’s statement in TFA, “Through the ages, I've seen evil take many forms.”

There will always be an adversary, a Satan, a dragon to slay. Something we have to face and overcome in order to grow and advance and evolve. Which is what these stories, and all hero’s journey stories, are really about: growing up.

I really can't abide Carl Jung. There was a big promotion of him around TLJ and the run up to TRoS among certain shipping communties. He was a vile horrible man, a homophobe, & misogynist and as someone who has mental health problems and suffers with autism and is gay. The guy and his writings are really triggering. Let's not promote him in the disguise of Star Wars. He was not a very nice man.

 

Nice or not, the ending of Star Wars TROS is based on his ideas about the collective unconscious. Just the facts, not a promotion. His own lesser qualities, I think he might've said, come from down where Palpatine lives.

 

Just tell yourself the Sith are "extinct" again. Apparently they can come back from extinction without more than two people batting an eyelid for more than five seconds. So I presume that should similarly assuage anyone's anxiety about the finality of Palpatine's demise.

 

You can't destroy the sith or darkness in a dual world. The point is you have to put them down solo, in your own psyche. It's mythology. Battles of Jedi and Sith are all about the struggle inside of you. Each individual has to win that battle, and arrive at their Luke Skywalker consciousness, through the heart, caring and compassion. All the spectators around Palpatine were the collective unconscious of the people who arrived with Lando-- the people of the galaxy.
