    Colin Trevorrow:

he will do just fine, as long as he remembers that.

Jurassic World was ok. it's hard to pan something that made so much damn money lol. As far as i'm aware, he had to work with a completed script that he never even got to read when he was first offered the director's job.

absolutely agree! Just seeing his love and enthusiasm for what he was making would be enough for me to give him another SW movie.

the bonus is that he made a bloody good job of it.

the other directors i'd like to see making these films..
Christopher Nolan, Michael Mann, Peter Jackson.

none of them are perfect, but given time and budget... yes please.

Ooooo and Ridley Scott... but i think the dude is stuck in groundhog day making alien films.

You are correct in that he and the cowriter really only got to tweak the script.

I heard that he outright put his foot down on the script at one point, as Spielberg originally wanted to push tactical dinosaurs and human/dinosaur hybrids, and Trevorrow just wasn't having it.

I don't know if that was Spielberg or the other producers because Spielberg hand picked Trevorrow based on SAFETY NOT GUARANTEED and pitched him to Kathleen Kennedy for Ep 9.

But I do know that they had most of the outline and several of the big action sequences set in stone he had to work around.

An anecdote on why Trevorrow got the JURASSIC WORLD job

In the end of SAFETY NOT GUARANTEED the time machine actually works after spending the whole movie where it plays the main character as crazy. It is the only singular moment that really requires a suspension of disbelief and Spielberg said if the time machine didn't work he probably wouldn't have gotten the Jurassic World job.

Honestly, Colin and IX is the movie I am most scared about. I hated Safety Not Guaranteed and Jurassic World

How do I feel about CT directing IX...
If this is who LFL has chosen, to me, then that's the man to do it.
It's Not for me to say.
I just want to be told the story

I don't believe a director should be credited solely on experience, as there are young, talented individuals who deserve opportunity. As it stands, it's Colin's portfolio that is concerning. He does not have a good film. He has an independent film seen favorably, a hollow entry into a blockbuster franchise, and his latest a critically panned film. Now, I can make the argument that Richard Marquand was also not an inspired choice for Return Of The Jedi; He was incredibly safe, but that's perhaps what Lucas wanted, and George notoriously micromanaged Episode VI, perhaps the film needed it, though.

Colin's portfolio tells me he can follow orders, work for the corporate suits, and maybe that's what a conclusion in this trilogy needs. Whether or not Episode IX is a good film is an unknown until 2019. It can't possibly be awful.....

The issues with Jurassic World are about the writing(most movie problems are writing-related). He is not listed as a writer on JW, but i have heard he did have involvement in the screenplay. I have concerns for the writing for Ep IX, but am not worried at all about CT's directing ability.

Humans are amazing . . . and fickle. Ever since Trevorrow's recent film flopped, not only have fans been questioning his position as Episdoe IX's director, but have also been trashing "JURASSIC WORLD". The hypcrisy is just never ending.

Really because plenty of us trashed JW before.
Granted I see why the picked him based on JW...its a hollow rehash of the original and was highly profitable which is basically TFA so perfect fit.

So how do we all feel after The Book of Henry......cause I was sitting at about a 7 out of 10 in my confidence in Trevorrow before it, now I am at a 5.

    http://www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/2017/06/colin-trevorrow-book-of-henry-star-wars

I actually listened to the podcast the article is talking about (http://www.empireonline.com/movies/news/empire-podcast-268-colin-trevorrow/ - interview with him starts about 40 minutes in) and he seems like a modest, level-headed guy who will not have trouble working with Lucasfilm. Unless he screws big time, he is here to stay, and considering he is on the project for almost two years now, the chances of him leaving or getting sacked are very low.

I did actually, I hated it, granted reviews might have tainted my experience but I don't think so. Like I said my confidence is sitting at a 5 so in my mind that's average. I don't have overwhelming confidence but I'm not unconfident. I think I am at a 5 because it's just one bad movie, granted it's really bad but still.
