I am not so much interested here in who lives (Hera) or who dies (Jedi) as those are not so difficult predictions.

I am interested in your ideas how Rebels might end to stay loyal to canon - no major Rebel victories prior to Skariff (so it's highly unlikely hat we will see free Lothal) - and yet not end on a downer. Even Star Wars which end on a cliffhanger and without clear cut win/loss (ESB, TLJ, The Clone Wars: Lost Missions...) end with hope.

So, what would be satisfying end to Star Wars Rebels to someone who is growing up with it?

The sacrifices of some of the ghost crew members should at least be an inspiration for those who carry on the candle of the rebellion.

The story of this crew should become a mentoined and well known piece of heroism within the "resistance" :))) against the Empire.

Perhaps people like Admiral Raddus or Cassian Andor get inspired to act at the right moment..

Perhaps Kanan and Ezra get a special "save the rebellion moment" and they save a prominent character like Leia or Bail with their sacrifice

I hope for a meaningful ending for most members of the phoenix team all together; not one death after another in a row like in RO1

I think the series should end at the start of the Battle of Scarif. End it as soon as we see The Ghost jump to light speed and show The Ghost to be piloted by Hera and Chopper. Have Kanan die in heroic way, have Ezra give up the Jedi ways and retire on Lothal with Zeb and have Sabine go back to Mandalore to lead it's people.

I don't think this is as complicated as the rest do. Ezra confronts the emperor to allow his friends to escape. They lose the battle of lothal, they have to lose. The first victory is Scariff and we know that. We also know Ezra more than likely dies, unless Kenobi sends him somewhere for some unknown reason. If the emperor is here then Ezra dies contronting him. He knows he will die, he knows who defeats the empire.

I also think Thrawn dies, sorry folks, he's not in the OT either. You do not take a commander like Thrawn and put him in the back yard to hold for later.

There's a sequel to the Thrawn novel being written right now, so he most likely survives (unless its events happen inbetween Season 3 and 4 of Rebels, but I find that unlikely.)

I've been struggling with this very question since I read through the EW Article/Slideshow (thanks, Lady :) ) and have never come to any conclusions that are not gloomy, HOWEVER, what I think would be fitting is that in some fashion Kanan would trade his life for Hera's, and that Sabine returns to Mandalore "for the greater good of her people and home".

I'm somewhat imagining that Zeb might do something of the same as Sabine, BUT, then there's Ezra...this is a problem for me.

I'm REALLY having a hard time believing that they're going to kill the kid, but in the same breath, we've never seen him again, so there's that. I'd like to think that in the end, there's (minus Kanan) a group hug and a tearful departure as the "family" departs in their own directions, to take their individual places in the accelerating rebellion, and Ezra is left standing there with thoughts of Kanan, and looks to the stars and turns toward his home on Lothal...fade to black.

With the exception of Hera (whom we "saw" in R1), we get a relatively satisfying end to the story that we know, without actually knowing their fate, but just assuming that the rest of their lives are what they made them..

But then there's the "Ezra Factor".....maybe he just walks away like Ashoka did....IDK...maybe we'll see him (or all of them) in future novels. Unclear the future is...

Other than Hera, none of the other members of the gang have been mentioned in any other novels (as far as I'm aware), actually name checked. They've either died, gone into hiding or simply disappeared from history. Whatever the answer, Feb 19th can't come quick enough!

Well the Mortis arc from TCW figures somewhere in it, because we have that Father, Son and Daughter mural in the trailer. Maybe Ezra evil take the role the father wanted Anakin to take?

Some kind of victory at Lothal isn't out of the question IMO because Scarrif was the first big victory for the Rebel alliance. But Saw's partisans could get involved and win it, keeping it technically true to canon. Though I think this is unlikely - it's still a possibility.

Think I read somewhere that the emporer has some plans for the Jedi temple on Lothal so I think that Ezra will foil that plan and then either die or go to Mortis.

I think Thrawn's conclusion will be pivotal to whatever the new animated series is going to be. I think we're going to learn more of the threat from beyond the unknown regions that is mentioned in the Thrawn novel, probably with more to come on that in the forthcoming novel - This will be Thrawn's out without dying.

Also, Dave Filloni was behind the compass in Battlefront 2 and TLJ, so maybe we'll get a tie in to that.

I want it to end with the battle of scarrif from the perspective of the Ghost crew, with them dedicating their role in the victory to Kanan and Ezra. I think that would be a satisfying end. And maybe someone saying the words "a New Hope" and a final shot of young Luke standing on the sands of tatooine looking out to the horizon where twin suns are setting.

Yes! Something like this. I have been saying, long before the trailer came out, that Ezra will end up in some sort of mystical space like Mortis, or maybe Mortis itself. The only other option is having him leave the Jedi path (unlikely from what we've seen) or killing him (which seems like a bad move for Disney XD).

If you put Ezra in some sort of mystical other-space, you explain his absence in the OT but allow us to go back and find him. Perhaps Luke and Lor San Tekka encounter him as they are searching for Jedi artifacts?

Mhm, I like all these Mortis speculations... A (REALLY) wild one: Kanan as Father, Ezra as Son, Ahsoka as Daughter? That way, they all live (in a way) and are removed from SW history. They can also be taken off the shelf whenever someone needs Force/lore explanation.

I highly doubt they are going to kill off Thrawn that quickly after they brought him back from the old EU. In the old EU he was gaining ranks during the OT and the movies never showed or mention him. They can easily move him to different part of the Empire such as the Unknown Regions which the OT don't talk about or show. If Hera and Chopper can survive during the OT and show up just after the Battle of Endor, than Thrawn can survive as well. Besides, I believe he was also named dropped in one of the Aftermath books (someone who actually read the books can correct me if i'm wrong).

Yes, he was, as someone the Emperor used to chart the Unknown Regions. That, however, doesn't mean that he is alive, though I certainly hope that they don't kill him in Rebels. They could easily use Zahn's original explanation - he was sent away by the Emperor.

It seems I am not the only one who came up with this theory. Both Joseph Scrimshaw of ForceCenter and Bryan Young of Full of Sith came up with it.

A lot of people, for some reason, seem to predict this Disney kids show will end in a bloodbath for our heroes. My expectation is that Kanan (now Caleb?) will probably sacrifice himself nobly, but the rest will live on in a ‘fight another day’ sort of way. Then we’ll see them come back one by one in the next animated series. Filoni doesn’t like to waste his characters.
Wouldn't Ahsoka make more sense as 'Father'? She's more of a balance between the two extremes.

If Ahsoka is balance (she didn't die), it would seem from the trailer that Ezra is light. So who would be dark?

Hmm, I thought the take was that Ezra was dark, so Kanan would be light. Meh, what do I know?

Guess it could still go either way, since Ezra seems to have communication with both the daughter and the emperor.

I’m not sure how I feel about the Mortis connection... it’s definitely interesting- I could certainly see it being written as a way to dissolve the Ahsoka/Ezra problem... maybe as an evolved twist, based on the experiences of Ezra’s character in Rebels, is it possible we may see a Mother (Ahsoka), a Father (Maul?), and a Child (Ezra)?

    Well... maybe.

From the trailer, it’s looking pretty good regardless. I’ll be SO surprised if Kanan doesn’t die a Leonidas-at-the-pass death... (And maybe even disappointed.)

The developments of Rebels have actually been the most interesting aspect of the SW universe for me lately. I’m gonna miss it when it’s gone!

Kallus & Zeb die in a last stand, Sidious kills Kanan & Ezra. Sabine Hera & the droids survive both heading to Mandalore & Endor. Thrawns gets reassigned still pondering Bendu's words.

Four deaths? While I know what happened in Rogue One, I do not think that Rebels will go that dark too. Kanan will die, but perhaps Zeb goes to his "new home world". Maybe Thrawn is sent to the Unknown Regions by the Emperor and Ezra and some of the others follow him there.
