I’m actually more excited after SOLO.

I wasn’t super pleased with it, but I think JJ will back off of the pandering and repetition that are his bad habits (lens flares are unavoidable, but he seems to have gotten the message about limiting them before TFA). I’m not mad at Howard about SOLO, he was the safe choice, and he was so clearly duct taping a broken vase together before flowers were delivered (if that metaphor works).

KK has been and is the real problem. However, her lack of a soul, fear of Iger, misunderstanding of real creative ideas works in our favor for EIX.
She’ll over correct again. TLJ was too much of a departure and they obviously wanted got scared of that with Rogue One & Solo. But since TFA & RO made money with crowd pleasing films that honored SW rather than running away from it or photocopying, I think they’ll go for a respectful end rather than setting up two three other possible spinoffs or tv shows.

I disliked TFA much less after I saw SOLO. There is a lot of good stuff in TFA & Solo.

I feel like they can thread the needle with the safe but skilled JJ and the knowledge that Rogue One was different but deferential, TFA was fresh but familiar, and TLJ was respected and reviled.

I think we’ll get a satisfactory ending that balances the unexpected and inevitable.

I'm excited and will be there opening day as pretty much always (didn't see Star Wars until later in the summer).

I'm not without a little trepidation though as I worry JJ might over do the fan service and crowd pleasing and make a movie without a whole lot of meat on the bone.

I also know we have the guy that has to be asked to send Artoo on a mission to get Luke instead of BB8.
Nor do I like Artoo was sitting in a corner with a tarp over him and he had to stick Luke into exile in order for his story to function so it is hard to imagine him creatively using the force ghost as a new sort of bishop on the chess board or anything.
I prefer a more in the marrow feel for the galaxy even if Im not lockstep in agreement with that person's vibe though I know he will do a more than competent job.

I do like he is really good with his original characters so in that respect he is the man for the job because they now have to carry the film and this continuity.

I'm also concerned about refusing to recast Leia, I think a story without her is going to be lacking authenticity and an off screen passing all the respect for the character less than flushing a goldfish down the toilet and even less than that for Carrie's hard work to reprise Leia.

It's all a nostalgia delivery and protection racket for some is how I feel. Some "fans" demand essentially a zombie franchise it seems to me.

High question mark for me since I unexpectedly lost interest in this saga which is ended for me for I couldn't care less about any character left in this saga except Artoo who had ... 2 minutes screen time in 2 movies.

    Sad.

Gah, still not over that goofy, terrible episode 8. My SW love fell off a cliff. Sad, sad times. I use to post here all the time. Think is is the first time in 5 months.

Force awakens was the best thing since the OT. Amazing. And Ryan j crapped on it all for me. I just hope 9 can save it. Fingers crossed.

I'll never watch a RJ film again.

My main motivation to buy tickets for IX is to see if it can save VIII (and VII to some degree) by connecting the sequel movies in a meaningful way. At the moment the ST feels like a series of filler episodes without any real buildup towards an exciting finale. Other than that I don't really care about IX. I've seen Kylo vs Rey plenty of times now and I don't feel particularity excited to see Kylo get his ass kicked by Rey for the third time.

This video from another thread helped me get back "in the mood" for the Sequel Trilogy, so I am changing my vote ot "opening night". A meaningful discussion about themes and character development (instead of rants about "SJWs" and "insulting the fans") can go a long way in revitalizing interest. Now that Solo has come and gone, it's time to ponder about the fate of Rey, Kylo Ren, Poe Dameron and the future of the GFFA.

Is there an option for "I'm hyped for every Star Wars movie to come, but as of right now I'm reserving my judgment and excitement until there's more to care about"? I'll be there opening night to experience the opening night rush and hype, but I'm not as excited for this one as I was pre-VIII. I do look forward to the next year or so to ruminate on what's to come. I think (I hope) time will heal some wounds from within this fandom, and by the time December 2019 rolls back around, everything might feel a little less hostile. Who knows though.

I’m looking forward to IX. I like the new characters and I’m interested to see how their stories conclude. I have become engaged with these characters and want to see where they are taken. I think that the way TLJ ended it allows JJ to take the conclusion in many ways (if there is a time jump and I can’t see one not happening). While I loved the OT, I came into the ST knowing it was not their story. I know I may be in the minority but I think Luke ended up being a huge hero at the end of TLJ. It was just as effective as if he would have been bad ass Luke with a light saber (just not as fan servicey).

I will not see it opening night as I never do, I will likely see it Friday afternoon like I have the others. I agree with others that my hype will increase once we get closer to the movie and we start getting some info on it.

She was the last woman standing on board of the Supremacy while Kylo was unconscious, she got both pieces of the lightsaber while he got none and she had saved his life only minutes befroe when that praetorian had him in a deadlock. She's the clear winner, again. As a result another Kylo vs Rey confrontation is nothing that makes me want to go and see IX.

I mean, Kylo was fighting the bulk of the guard while Rey took on one at a time. And by saving his life, she threw the saber to him.

As for her apparently being a winner because she was the first to... wake up? Wow, what an epic victory!!!! :p

It's made very clear that Kylo saved her and she left when he was unconscious. I swear Mary Suers would say anything to make her be a Mary Sue. She just left the ship. Rey got out of bed this morning. Mary Sue! Yeah sure completely forget how they got into that situation in the first place.

No, it's sad that you'd subject yourself to this line of thinking.

I'll of course see it opening night, but until a trailer comes out, I'm not too excited yet. Don't get me wrong, I've mostly liked the ST so far, but I don't really see where they can go from here, as of right now. I'm sure they'll figure out a good way to tie the trilogy up.

How is picking up a broken object a victory? Besides Kylo has a lightsaber, Rey has a quarter staff now.

Rey and Kylo did not face off in battle in TLJ so you can’t say that she defeated home. Sure they struggled over the lightsaber which technically ended in a draw when it split in two.

I really liked TFA and TLJ was okay (mixed feelings) but it didn't leave me with any excitement or theorizing what happens next. That being said, I could get reinvested if certain things happen (or DON'T happen). I'm not liking some of the Twilight-ish leak rumors but hopefully they aren't true or subject to change.

I'm really looking forward to it, but glad for the wait. If that makes sense. Gives it some time to marinate and build up steam.

I have absolutely no clue how the story can move forward and tie things together, which makes it more exciting for me personally. I loved the mess out of TLJ, but the ending did feel more like a true ending than any sort of cliffhanger.

    It'll be fine, I'm sure.
