With apologies to Admiral Ozell, can anyone tell me how far Luke was from Echo base when Han rescued him? I no longer have the novelization and I'm far too busy with liking everyone's profile posts to look it up myself.

Thanks. And have a nice Wookiee, Life-Day.

Hoth was underneath a good chunk of The Echo Base enough to feel the AT-ATs before even being capable of seeing a visual...The Wampa's caves must have been pretty far off of the base as in having to fly to the wampa to rescue Luke as evidenced by the initial vehicles flying over Han in the morning

Doyou mean how FAST? The Wampa's were probably stalking them if anything. The Wampa looked slow because of the slow motion we saw him in but at that size he could be pretty fast...I mean, a T-Rex is tall as sith but can run at like 65mph

Reason for this thread, is I was watching the BluRay for TESB the other night and it struck me that the SnowSpeeders weren't all that close to Echo Base during their search. They passed mountains, swept over wide open snow plains didn't have any visual signs to locate them.... it was Han, who found them.

The other questions I have now, how close was the asteroid field to the 6th planet of the Hoth System? How did the Rebels not know about it? I suppose "uncharted" covers that, but doesn't do anything for the distance between the asteroids and the Anoat System. I remember someone, somewhere mentioned it would take over a thousand years to reach Bespin at sub-light speed. The edit of the film implies the passage of time with Luke's training and the fact that Fett was already in Cloud City with the Impererials before the Falcon limped to the landing pad.

I would have guess it took a week or two to get to Bespin but the asteroid system was probably pretty close considering how quickly the probe droids reached the planet and something that "smalll" couldnt have had a hyper drive in it
