SPECULATION How important is it to you, that Rey is a Skywalker/Solo?

- That's exactly what I'm thinking. I personally want Rey to be an offspring of random dark side users. But I would also be satisfied with her being a Skywalker (no Solo though). It's all about the overall story.

I am somewhere between Skywalker and A Good Story. My preference is that she is a Skywalker (not a Solo), but I would be happy if she would have an otherwise satisfying backstory.

It's a good idea to get a poll on this. The other infamous thread with a poll (is luke Rey's father) only shows what people think her heritage is, whereas I feel this poll will show that, regardless of personal feelings, the majority of people don't care as long as it's handled well.

 

I think the story will be good either way Rey's heritage goes, and I will enjoy TLJ regardless, but I would prefer Rey be a Skywalker/Solo (either one) rather than not.

 

I voted also that I don't mind & as long as it's a good story, we'll worry about the family history later.

 

I would prefer her not to be a Skywalker. I just don't see a way of making her a Skywalker without it being overly convoluted or making Luke look like a dick.

 

Like many of you, if she's Skywalker, great. If not, make it a good story. I'd be happy with that. She'll have a connection to them now as she builds her character. She'll find belonging with them, especially Luke now, but more so Finn, Poe and possibly Ben if he's redeemed. Regardless, of who she is, people complain that "it would involve too much explaining". Well, my opinion is that would come in the film, but also through books, comics and stand alones. As much as I'd like her to be related to Luke or Leia, something tells me, she may also be connected to Obiwan. Too much explaining? Stand alone coming our way! Great from a marketing standpoint.

 

I would like it if she is a Skywalker, provided they have a good explanation for why she was left on Jakku, why she is a Skywalker, and what happened to her mother. If she isn't a Skywalker I wouldn't be too bothered as long as Rey has a good story behind and ahead of her.

 

At first I vote for "I don't care" but in fact I do care. I deeply dislike the idea of Rey being a Skywalker or Solo not because of a need for an unrelated protagonist, but because it makes Luke or Han & Leia seem like a bunch of careless jerks, which they are not. I've explained my point of view a couple of times so I won't repeat myself but to sum it up: what kind of person would let his/her daughter be left with such a swine like Unkar Plutt in such a hostile environment like Jakku? I know Jakku holds much more importance than it seemed at first, but if they had to leave her, couldn't either Luke or Leia approach their cousin on Naboo (at that time they probably knew of her existence,) where she could have been brought up by a sensible person in a loving and caring environment?

PS. I don't care for Reylo.

I'm still hoping for Rey Kenobi...just so we know Old Ben wasn't alone on that desert planet ruining socks all those years.

 

Thank you for making this poll. I hope it gets a lot of votes, cause this is also a question I'm curious about.

For me, I'd prefer "Rey Skywalker," even if it is the obvious choice. Either that, or give us a reverse-emphasis on Kylo Ren moving forward, using him as "Skywalker" of the trilogy, having Rey bring him to the light, and having them defeat the First Order.

 

i don't see anyway how this sequel trilogy would make sense without her being a Skywalker....just my opinion. If the plan was for her to be unrelated then they should have done a completely new storyline with new characters etc etc.
And yes i get that Ben is a Skywalker but i don't see it being about him. Its already bad enough that i see no big bad that ties this ST to the previous 6 films.

 

I also want to point out that I can't vote for an option on the poll as I don't want Rey to be a Skywalker but I also dislike Reylo.

 

Don't get me wrong, I want a good story. But I just feel that making Rey a Skywalker or a Solo is very important. It hurts every time I watch The Force Awakens seeing how sad Rey is, knowing that she's waited so long for her family to come back and they probably aren't gonna come back. I know some people would rather have her become sort of a surrogate Skywalker and have them become her new family. But personally, I think it would be much better if she were the biological daughter of Luke or Han & Leia because then she would finally be reunited with her family, her real family. Plus, the conflict between her and Kylo Ren would become even more interesting as they would either be cousins or brother & sister. I also think it's important for the Skywalker family as well since Anakin Skywalker will need at least one grandchild who can continue his legacy the right way. Plus, Luke deserves a family of his own like he had in the EU (with Mara Jade and their son Ben) and that's one of the biggest reasons why I support the Rey Skywalker theory a little more than Rey Solo. And at the same time, Han & Leia deserve a good child after everything they went through with Kylo. But that's just how I feel personally.

 

I will keep an open mind, because I don't want to hate the film if what I want doesn't come to pass. I'll enjoy the film without expectations.
