Luke’s Journey in many ways mirror Anakin. Both had chance to strike down evil they discovered, both failed because of compassion, and it lead to the destruction of two Jedi Orders.

When Luke chose not to strike down Ben Solo after sensing his darkness, it led to death of the Jedi Order and the creation of the First Order’s Powerful Darkside Skywalker, much like Anakin Failure to take down Palpatine led to Darth Vader.

And in the end, Luke will have caused hope to be the spark of the rebellion.

That’s what I got out of it anayways.
