Let's discuss: How much time do you think passes during this movie? One day? Two days? Three?

Seems to me like we probably begin at night (the village), spend a day on Jakku, a day on Takodana, and a day at the Resistance Base/Starkiller Base. There are many more scenes that seem to take place during the day than at night: Fin and Rey fleeing from Jakku, the battle on Takodana, Resistance fighters scrambling to their X-wings at the base, etc.
And Han seems to be killed at sunset, indicating that it is daylight during their adventures at Starkiller Base, before the nighttime snowy-forest-fight in the climax.

    What do you think?

From the summary of the film, it seems like it takes place somewhere between two to four days. Five at most. However, the film proper could always indicate that more time passes by in-between scenes than what the summary would indicate. For example, Empire seemingly takes place all within two or three days, since Han and Leia are being hunted down by the Imperial forces through out the film and the way their scenes are put together emphasizes that tension and sense of chase. But it has to be at least several weeks, possibly even a month, in order for Luke's training with Yoda to really make sense.

Hmmm... This is a very difficult question that probably has no definitive answer. I would say enough time to establish and/or conquer (or at least attempt to conquer) a 'First Order'. A lot of the key plot points were already established 30 years prior to the events of the film, but obviously something significant is about to happen during this specific time period. So honestly, I would say it probably spands at least a week, but then again, I'm not exactly sure of the events of the film so I can't say for even close to certain.

I think more. There are points in the movies where no one can be certain how much time is passing. i.e. Luke training on Dagobah, time at the Rebel base on Yavin, before and after the Death Star Battle. Luke's time on Dagobah and with the fleet before departing for the Endor mission, how long it takes to get to Endor. Things like that. I don't think anyone can be sure, and I bet these new movies will be the same way.

    TPM: 4 Days
    AOTC: 6 or 7 Days?
    ROTS: 5 Days
    ANH: 2 Days
    TESB: 3 or 4 Days
    ROTJ: 2 or 3 Days

The Force Awakens seems like it takes place over the course of 2 to 4 Days. Something to keep in mind is that nighttime happens at different times on different planets.

Yeah I always imagined that Luke spent weeks training with Yoda but chronologically it just doesn't fit.

Someone else from the Cantina had the idea that with the hyperdrive out, the Millennium Falcon could have had a VERY long trip to Bespin. That would allow more time for Luke to train on Dagobah. A few days simply doesn't work.

Time is very fickle in Star Wars, and TFA definitely seems to be keeping that tradition alive. I'd tend to go on the longer, I think. A week or so. Whenever travel takes place - i.e. we see a ship make the jump to hyperspace - I sometimes take that as implying there is a passage of time. With the Millennium Falcon making multiple stops in TFA, I think that allows for a little bit more time to elapse. Just a wild stab in the dark.

That's a great point I never thought of it that way! I always just figured they were 2 hours away from Bespin or something but that completely changed my outlook on the movie! Cool stuff!

I think TFA will be ambiguous enough to not know the exact number of days.

Of course! Just like they all are. That's why we're playing this game. :)

It's hard when you haven't seen the movie, though...

She was already close to the end of her pregnancy, probably a couple weeks from it, and they had to operate to save the babies.

Wookie years are longer than human years so it depends if I'm the dog or not.
