SPECULATION How many Lightsaber duels in VIII?

    Episode 4 and 5 had one, Episode 6 had one with several action pieces (Luke on Jabba's sail barge, Luke on Endor) that featured the lightsabers.

    Of course, episodes 1-3 had one big showdown at the end with tons of combat mixed in, and ROTS had multiple battles.

    What do you see happening in VIII?

    Here's my take:

    • One major action sequence, with Rey/Luke vs KOR.
    • Training sequence stuff.
    • Luke has one small moment in the middle of the film. Similar to a cantina swipe.
    • Ending "lightsaber duel" proper, with Rey and Kylo, but Luke also joins in toward the end.

    How do you see it going?

    I think they will hop right into action. Now that Luke is back and Rey is training there two wielding blades who will have fighting to do. They might not have a duel per se till the end but sabres coming out yall.

    Actual duels I would say two. Other than that I would say maybe in training sequences.

    I guess only the Luke&Rey vs KoR/Kylo battle and at the end Rey vs Kylo duel again.

    I think there will be just one lightsaber on lightsaber duel with a Kylo Ren v.s Rey rematch, I for some reason do not believe Luke has his lightsaber with him. I believe Luke will be like Palpatine in ROTJ and just rely on force powers, evolving past the need for a lightsaber.

    I doubt there will be seen much from Snoke in VIII. He will be spared for IX. ;)

    What part of torturing a guy would require Palpatine to use a lightsaber when he can just use the force.

    I can see two lightsaber duels in episode 8: a Luke/ Rey v Kylo and Knights of Ren duel in the first act and possibly a Rey v Snoke duel in the final act, where Luke has to rescue her. I can picture some brief Luke and Rey lightsaber action dispersed throughout the film, but only against non force-sensitive beings.
