I liked it up until the assassination of Leia. And Finn seems to have dropped from a Lead in TFA to merely lost in the back round somewhere running missions with no continuation of the awakening he experienced in THE FORCE AWAKENS.

Rey set up a new order of force users that is neither jedi nor sith........Poe ends up as a Mon Mothma type figure and helps set up Reupblic v.3.0... Finn becomes a hero to the galaxy and finds a new home for all the rehabilitated stormtroopers and becomes their senator.....Luke, Leia and Han turn into convorees and fly off to Ach-to.

I personally believe the episodic saga ends with IX, at any rate.

If it ends with IX, this is what I think might happen:

    - Rey is revealed to be the daughter of Han and Leia (TLJ).
    - Luke dies (IX).
    - Rey saves Ben, her brother, and together they start a new Jedi Order together.

How about another epic Throne Room finish, with a new John Williams theme thundering in the background?

It will never end. The universe they’ve created is so big. What we are experiencing is just the tip of the iceberg, they could go on and on forever... The writers imagination is limitless. :D

This is how I see the current trilogy ending, at least.

    - Poe and Finn lead New Republic forces against the First Order, culminating in one final epic battle

    - Luke and Rey infiltrate the Supremacy to confront Kylo Ren and Snoke, where an epic four-way battle ensues

    - Rey convinces Kylo to turn back to the light, and Kylo kills Snoke. It's revealed that Kylo has become ultra powerful in the dark side and killed Snoke only to usurp his power, and has not turned back as we had thought

    - Luke and Kylo fight, but Rey is separated from them by the imminent destruction of the Supremacy, thanks to the sacrifice of Poe

    - Rey manages to escape via a TIE Fighter before the Supremacy blows up, Kylo Ren and Luke remain on the ship and are presumed dead, although their real fate is unknown

    - The First Order is all but destroyed.

    - Rey rebuilds the Jedi, following the beliefs and new perspectives of the Jedi that she learned from Luke

Finn is sitting at a bar drinking as Journey plays in the background. A dejected Kylo Ren walks in, pulls a blaster....cut to end credits.

Rey is finding her way as a Jedi, carrying on the legacy. Kylo is off in the woods as a lumberjack with no explanation as to why.

Kylo and Rey swear they aren't getting together for 8 years and Rey marries Finn but then he dies of stupidplotitis and it turns out she ends up with Kylo anyways.

Luke wakes up and it was all a dream.

Or Rey tearfully flies the Falcon away to a far corner of the galaxy, intercut with a musical montage showing the deaths of all the characters in the ST, ending with the death of Rey as a wizened old woman.

STAR WARS : THE THREE-PARTS THEORY
This theory has been written by a french fan on a french forum. I try to summarize it below:

    SW gets 3 main themes:
    - the journey of the hero
    - the politics
    - the morality and the philosophy

Through these 3 themes, SW is inspired by mankind history over several civilizations.
    - the journey of the hero matches Joseph Campbell's work, who explains us that the myths are all based on the same pattern: the call of the adventure, the role of the mentor, the cave scene, the confrontation with the father
    - politics in SW is inspired by the political cycles of our mankind, for example, how a tyrant raises the power, at first legally, then increasing more and more his influence for, by the end, control everything and install a totalitarian regime
    - moral and philosophy are based on the main religions and human beliefs : the concept of good and evil, the Force which stands for God, several spiritual orders (Jedi, Sith, Church of the Force, Guardians of the Whills), Darth Maul who embodies the traditional christian image of the Devil (red and black, yellow eyes, horns).

Looking further, we can see that, even if each trilogy deal with these 3 themes, each trilogy focuses on one of them:
    - the OT matches the journey of the hero : Luke's initiatory journey is one of the most known examples of the adaptation to the movie industry of Joseph Campbell's pattern
    - the PT is essentially about politics : the corruption of the leaders that irritate the people, the sedition between 2 leading streams that slices the government in two parts who face and fight instead of thinking together, the fall of the Republic, the raise of Palpatine, the birth of an empire, all of that is clearly close to Hitler's story in Germany
    - that leads us to believe that the 3rd trilogy will mainly deal with morality and philosophy. Actually, Georges Lucas had already told that, in an eighties's interview I cannot retrieve, by the times he was already thinking about making 3 trilogies.

So now, assuming I'm right, we can wonder about the story we will be told - as it firstly seems unpleasant to make 3 movies about morality and philosophy. Especially since the story seems completely ended by the end of Episode 6, once Vader destroys the Sith and brings balance to the Force.
    But...
    But.
When one looks closer to the philosophical leads in SW, one can easily spot the chinese principle of yin and yang (a symbol that can be seen, in the sky over Naboo, by the end of AotC). Yin and Yang introduce the duality to us under the form of a complementarity and not an opposition. The yin and the yang merge themselves, there is a little point of yin inside the yang, and a little point of yang inside the yin : one cannot exist without a bit of the other. That can match the 2 sides of the Force, Light Side and Dark Side. The "balance" would mean that there MUST be a subtle part of each inside the other, two sides that pacifically live together instead of clash, two sides that must exist instead of an only one occupying all the space.
One of the most important philosophers's theory, Sigmund Freud, shows a fight between the "id" and the "superego" (note for english spokers: i'm a frenchy, I try to speak about "la théorie du ça et du surmoi" by S. Freud as we call that in french - Google Translate gave me "the id and the superego", I hope it has been good. If someone has a better translatation, let us know. In before: thank you). The "id" matches the animal instinct in the human : it stands for the dark side - while the "superego" corresponds to a principle of perfection : it is the light side. The "ego" is an intermediate state, a "balance" between the "id" and the "superego".

Do you see where I'm going? According to me, "misunderstood the prophecy may have been". :)
By the end of ROTJ, there is no more balance, as the Dark Side is completely destroyed. My opinion then, is the 3rd trilogy will introduce us how the prophecy will be realized and how the balance will be brought.
To do that, one can rely on the "force ghosts" : when a Jedi reaches this state and becomes a "force ghost", one can assume he reached the balance.
Now, let's review the 3 trilogies to see how this has been exposed to us : by the end of the first one (= end of episode 3, Yoda speaking to ObiWan) we start to speak about immortality (the QuiGon's affair). By the end of the 2nd trilogy (= end of ROTJ) we see 3 force ghosts. That makes me think that the prophecy will be fullfilled by the end of episode IX, in relation with the forceghosts and immortality.
That would tie perfectly the things together: episode 1 introduces it, sepaking about a prophecy, episode 9 fullfills it. The circle is complete.

Going further... some pieces of information we get on the 3rd trilogy may confirm more this theory:
    - "the Force awakens" : it is the first time the word "force" appears in a title - however, the Force just embodies the way philosophy is featured all along SW. Even more: the phrase that can be heard in the trailer is "There has been an awakening... the dark side... and the light". I believe it is the first time in the movie we speak about "light" in opposition to the "dark side".
    - "the last Jedi", even clearer: we all know there is no more Sith since episode 6. Now we are told there are no more Jedi too. No more Sith and no more Jedi lead to no more wars. No more wars lead to... complementarity. Fusion. Balance.

    I know it's a bit tl;dr, but... your thoughts ?

If we went by each trilogy then we know how it ends. 1-3 Darkness wins , 4-6 Light wins, 7-9 Balance wins.

personally i think it won't end, i think Disney will milk all they can out of it, then at some point their will be a run of bad films, interest will dwindle a bit the franchise will be put on hold then eventually rebooted.

Which I think supports the notion that the episodic entries end here, whether Rey is a Skywalker or not.

There is almost literally unlimited potential for this franchise across all media, and so if Disney and LFL come to depend on the episodic entries as their tentpole releases then I think we've already gone some way to losing our beloved franchise as it once was anyhow (which is weird to say after the whole canon/Legends revamp).

A trilogy of trilogies focusing on a falling hero, a rising hero and a balanced hero has its romanticism about it and can maintain thematic community, as well as that GL feel of story, throughout.

Not to mention that an episodic entry will only be a fraction as good once the mighty John Williams has stopped orchestrating them, for one reason or another.

I think George's original intention when he was proposing nine episodes was that by episode 9 Luke would join forces with his Force sensitive sister (who was not Leia at the time) to finally defeat the emperor.

I can't help but feel that all this discussion about Rey and Kylo joining forces as a new breed of 'grey' Jedi to defeat Snoke echoes that original concept.

I'm getting that feeling too, and with the hints about the surprise being wonderful, and the things that are going to happen with the Jedi, it sounds like a team-up is going to happen.
