Hi guys. Let's be honest: we all love spoilers to a certain degree. Some just want some little fixes here and there others go all in and want to know every little bit of the story. When I saw the trailer I immediately noticed that indeed I was already well spoiled regarding those shots. Especially with Kira's vehicle. I saw that concept art and I like the concept even more so that turned out to be a little "disappointment" . I would propably have liked that shot even more had I not seen the concept art :). It will surely feel similar once we get to see Kira's home on the big screen which should be a great surprise to everyone who has not seen the concept art. So I wonder how I will procede from here on? I need my regular Star Wars fixes so is staying away from spoilers a true option? :) How will you guys handle it? And did you have similar experiences?

I guess being a registered user of this forum implies we can't stay spoiler-free as much we would sometimes like to be...

Yes an no. I have succesfully stayed away from those recent bigger rumors. I hope it stays that way. Since the release of the teaser we have a better clue of who has really good sources. :)

Some studies have shown that spoilers can actually increase enjoyment of a film because we are able to see the buildup to a reveal, and a lot of fun can come from trying to predict how something happens. I mean most people have watched the Sixth Sense more than once, you can still enjoy it knowing the *no longer counts as spoiler* Bruce Willis is dead the whole time, and you get to see all the little hints that he is dead.

But it's still a matter of personal preference and I don't fault anyone for it. My old roommate who loves films more than I do is avoiding spoilers himself

    OMG! wha???

    hehe

i read the leaked script of ROTS believing it to be a made up pile of blast.. twisted fate perhaps that the script was genuine and the film was a made up pile of blast (only j/k lol)

i'm happy reading the spoilers and seeing the leaked images.. but i will stay well clear of anything resembling a script as that's a step too far for me.

I'm entirely happy to read all speculation and spoilers, and to read screenplays months ahead of films. They don't affect my enjoyment in any way, and I do like to have absorbed a story before seeing the film so I can appreciate the completed product more rather than trying to do it on the fly when being subject to very busy action scenes and environments that otherwise I might not be able to take in on first viewing. Sometimes, advance knowledge confers backstory not present in the film so I can use it to appreciate hidden depths in certain scenes. I also find it very interesting to learn how my imagination interprets a screenplay and what the film-makers finally settle on.

Advance knowledge can also deflect disappointment sometimes. When I read that Kashyyyk and Chewbacca were to feature in Revenge of the Sith, I assumed they would have a significant role. It not being the case, I lowered my expectations before entering the theatre and so wasn't disgruntled by how casually both the planet and Chewbacca were handled.

I would imagine that some of the characters in The Force Awakens will not get much dialogue or screen-time despite having actors of a good pedigree behind them (and lots of rumours), as was the case in some of the prequels (Hugh Quarshie and Terence Stamp were terribly underutilized in context of their acting talent, but that was the nature of their roles).

I was quite spoiled for AotC, and thoroughly spoiled for RotS. I might have enjoyed them even more than I did if I wasn't spoiled, but I did still enjoy them. However, much of my viewing experience was me running the spoilers through my head as I watched to compare and see who's speculation was right/wrong.

The thing is when such an anticipated movie is so far away it is very easy to crave those daily nuggets of news along the way and it is enjoyable. Novels being released, full scenes of dialogue, or script leaks I'd like to avoid this time. Maybe I can tear myself away from spoilers around 4 months before the movie comes out. Maybe. :p

Simple. When the first official full length trailer is out, I'll halt with these forums till the film is released.

For now, I'm going to enjoy the speculations.

I'm staying away from major spoiler plot points, and luckily they are highlighted here so I can browse the forum without worry of reading anything that will ruin the movie for me. Of course I will check out all of the trailers, and cast interviews because we know they won't reveal anything because of contractual reasons. The one type of spoiler I will read is who each character is, as I am interested to see if Han/Leia and or Luke have any offspring?

This is an interesting observation, as you are correct that I love to watch movies or TV shows again even after a big spoiler happens. But there is nothing better then remembering where you are and how you felt that first time you watched it and you get a plot point like the ending of the Sixth Sense without knowing it beforehand. I still remember renting it on DVD, and was able to avoid the any spoilers, and it just floored me when they big reveal came. I have watched the movie countless times after that, but its still cool to think about how I reacted that first time whenever I watch the ending.

I honestly don't. They more so handle me. It's weird though for me,spoilers don't ruin the movie for me. But.....that's just me.
Question though. How do I change the clone label underneath my user name and pic? You know clone, rebel trooper, rebel scum etc., etc.

I read Donald Glut's novelization of ESB before the movie came out in 1980.

Missing out on experiencing "I am your father" for the first time in the theater is one regret that nags at me to this day.

I don't mind being lightly spoiled for a movie that I really am looking forward to seeing, but in my experience the less spoiled I am going into a film, the deeper my viewing experience is.

In recent weeks I've begun avoiding TFA spoilers like the plague. That'll probably be my approach to the whole thing for the next year (assuming that my rather threadbare willpower holds out of course!)

Going cold turkey is very tough, as I have found the middle ground. I lurk around here, yet stay away from spoilers. Its enough to give me my daily SW fix, and I don't get any temptation to check out any spoilers cause I still kind of know whats going on. For example, I just read that the next trailer may not come out til the Avengers movie is released in May, so I am tailoring my expectations that I will have to wait a few months. If I went cold turkey, I would be wondering every day, "When is the next trailer coming out? Christmas? Superbowl?"

For most things, I hate spoilers. For star wars, I love it so much that I'll take whatever I can get as soon as I can get it. Basically I have no self control and look at anything I could find.

I have thought about this a lot as we get closer to having 'real' information. TFA is really the ONLY time we might be really surprised by any Star Wars film ever again. By episode 8, we will at least know the trajectory of the story so we can make educated guesses. A part of me would love to not spoil any of it........and yet, here I am.
