How worried should we be about solo?

The TLJ backlash will most definitely affect S. (If I have to call The Last Jedi "TLJ" then I'm calling Solo "S")

I think it's a minority opinion that TLJ was a dumpster fire, but they are loud as hell. S will suffer for it, but I think it could be a good movie. I mean it's Ron Howard. He's made some good movies. It's Disney, they've made some good movies. It's LFL, they've made two good movies (with Rogue One.....maybe three) (Side note....if in the course of 8 theatrical films, a company only allegedly makes two...maybe three good ones....why are you still here? When my Miami Dolphins are 2-6, the season is over in my mind, and I move on)

To guys like me who have liked all the SW movies, it will be fine. To the ones who apparently want to tear down Star Wars, they will hate it. Hell, they already hate it, and Episode 9 AND the Rian Johnson trilogy.

They literally hate stuff what ain't been made. Go figure.

I think S will have an audience, and I think also the critics will hate it. (Damn them for liking TLJ!!!!)

I think the 'backlash' here could be critics who will turn on S after the backlash of TLJ.

Don't join. Don't listen to critics....or fans.....trust no one.

 

Howard is a veteran I'm sure he knows what he's doing. Many great movies had troubled productions and we haven't even seen a trailer yet.

 

I think it's supposed to be 10 years before A New Hope. (I literally had no idea until like, two days ago because I haven't exactly invested my time into Solo the way I did The Last Jedi before its release.) I just don't understand how he's supposed to be in his early 20s when the resemblance isn't that convincing as it is. I'm hoping I'm proven wrong, and again, I'm not making a judgment until I've seen the film, but I still don't understand the casting choice if they were going for someone who looks like Harrison Ford because Alden just doesn't look enough like him to play a younger version of what may be his most iconic character .

Ford was roughly 34 years old when he shot ANH and was nearly 35 years old when it hit the theaters.

I already hated critics but this year with Ragnarok, Dunkirk, and TLJ I am officially ignoring critics as well as Rotten Tomato for good.

Thats total BS. Its Star Wars, that name will sell plus its Han Solo which to the general audience means something even if its a new actor. Rogue One had no Jedi and it did tremendously well.

 

Rouge 1 had a pseudo Jedi, Chirrurt Ímwe.

 

Thats a cheap answer, when it comes down to it Rogue one had no Jedi in it.

I like the idea of Chirrut as a "would-have-been-a-jedi-if-he-was-born-in-the-right-time", but from another point of view, it would have been much more consequent, if they skipped him. So the way they have chosen is not the bravest way they could have gone.

I was having this chat with my brother last night... this movie could be good, it could be as good as R1 IF!!! IF they don't dont do what the fans want. EG We DONT need to see the Kessel run, we DONT need to see characters like Fett or Jabba, we DONT need to see him winning the falcon.. IM sure there are people who are saying we do but when you shove all these types of things into a stand alone movie it could through off the story...

Some things are better off not shown, keep them as legends..

I feel that too many things were forced on us in FA and TLJ that took us away from good dialog.

I hope this movie is fresh ( like R1 ) some people want too many tie ins to other movies.. i like to use my imagination a bit.

I don't know why anybody should be WORRIED about this movie? It's just a movie.
I have no expectations, so I doubt that it will disappoint me.

My only hope is that they will move away from fan service zone. I really don't want another Rogue One with lead actors as wooden characters with zero charisma.

 

Give me Jyn over Rey - much more believable character,

Krennic over Hux too, Hux is a comical and useless, as are the villains in this new ST. Snoke was the only fairly foreboding character but they’ve killed him off

 

There's no need to worry. With SOLO we're going to have a very active community with another round "Thread for Haters"/"Thread for Lovers" for sure. Yay.
