Interesting, he's not wearing the jacket thing (?) between the tunic and the poncho here.

Sadly the day they filmed those scenes in Ireland, it would not rain, so they had to bring in rain machines.

Good, this means we may get some action, rather than just watching him stroke his beard and giving sage advice.

    I disagree.

If you look at the original Hungarian photo, there is a clasp of some sort, like a flat plastic seatbelt that connects and secures the rain jacket's left side across the chest to the right side of the rain jacket.

It isn't a poncho, it's a hooded jacket or cloak that stops mid-chest and is constructed so that the two pieces fit together on the right shoulder.

If you go back an look at the MSW sketch from earlier this year, his leak was pretty spot on about the darker clothes Luke would be wearing and it resembling his ROTJ costume and the KR costume from TFA a bit.

Look at the Hungarian photo, then the RJ photo, then this third one:

right shoulder is clasped, then unclasped showing the knit tunic (homespun much like the tan Obi-Wan garb in ANH and Luke tunic in TFA but much much darker) that's underneath (and belted), then the cape/jacket/cloak is clasped again and shows the knit tunic underneath.

    I wouldn't call it a poncho.

He's wearing kind of a version of the Jedi outfit of Obi-wan in ROTS underneath kind of....just darker.

That hooded rain gear is awesome, but it can be clasped and unclasped rather than needing to be pulled over the head each time.

And looking at it all again, the knit tunic always has a hood, and the slick rain gear top layer doesn't ever seem to show hood attached. Which makes sense.

Two hoods on two different layers would be bulky and awkward no matter what. If they were both pulled up the head would look huge and they wouldn't drape together well. Wearing only one of two hoods would create an odd silhouette, and likely cause it to fall off onto the neck. And walking around with two hoods off would give a hunch back appearance.

From a practical standpoint, this costume makes all kinds of sense. He has his hooded tunic, then an optional waterproof rain cloak/cape/jacket that can be easily pulled on and clasped and unclasped.

This costume is the kind of thing a mountain traveler would wear. The knit breathes and wicks water away, keeping him warm. The rain gear and knit hood protect from sun, spray, wind, and cold. They leave his arms free to use a walking stick, utilize that tan bag he has, eat and drink while squatting, pull out and use a saber, etc. Rain would hit him at the chest back head and shoulders most often on a mountainous area like this: when going towards a peak, he'd head straight up to get the climb (hike) over as quickly as was safe.

When heading back down, he'd like take a more switchback route to keep his decent safely controlled on slick grass and rocks.

Any rain or sweat that soaks the hood would flow down to the back of the bottom of the hood and hit the waterproof shell with a longer back panel and drip safely off it behind where he was about to step.

Someone put a lot of thought into this costume.

Sure, the "poncho" is unclaspable, but all I was saying is that he definitely has another leather(like?) layer, which seems to have sleeves. That's particularly visible on the Funko Pop, where he even wears a backpack over it. He doesn't have that layer in the Topps photo.

Yup. Although I don't think Luke ever had anything to do with the KOR or the dark side as we've seen it in the movies (if that's what you're implying?). I think he's just tired, angry and "getting too old for this s***".

I mean Luke, in this picture he looks a lot like Kylo Ren.

I wonder if he had more influence over Ben than Vader or Snoke did?

That's a good question. It would seem like Snoke was the one who influenced Ben Solo most (and in the worst way), but he turned to the dark side after spending years with Luke. He wasn't "lured" away as a child or when he first separated from his parents, it all happened under the supervision of his light side teacher. Who apparently thought he was the chosen one and treated him as such. I think it was more of a combination of factors that made him susceptible to being tricked by Snoke, and everyone around him contributed to it. And it's possible that Luke played the biggest role. It's likely that young Ben Solo, while feeling abandoned by his parents, looked to his new teacher for real guidance. Chances are he had very high expectations, thinking that Luke had all the answers and hoping that he's finally get a "parent" that he can actually bond with. Both Han and Leia pretty much rejected the force (automatically rejecting a part of their son), so Luke must have seemed like a dream come true for Ben Solo. Obviously he got disappointed again, and this is what might have made him more vulnerable than he ever was. However Luke chose to treat his nephew, it was wrong, and he should have known better (being strong with the force himself).
And to be honest, if I have to chose the character that is most responsible for Ben Solo's fall, it's Luke. It's easy to blame it all on Snoke (like Leia does) because he's the big bad, but that big bad never owed Ben Solo anything. Evil did what evil does, and evil is everywhere. But that evil wouldn't have reached Ben Solo if his family, especially Luke, would have done what they were supposed to, meaning paying attention to their kid. Luke should have been there for him (with him) right from the start. He knew how strong with the force he was even in the womb, and did nothing. He also knew that the dark side reached out to him, and still did nothing. And when he got Ben Solo as a teenager, he came to the conclusion that the kid was the chosen one and who knows what he chose to do about that. Just one bad decision after another. And just like his parents, Luke chose to keep the truth about Vader hidden from his nephew. No wonder he lost it, he found out that his entire family has been lying to him his entire life, never trusting him enough to tell him everything. It was the perfect moment for Snoke to swoop in and act like a savior. How Luke - a wise, clear-headed Jedi - didn't realize all the mistake he was making I'll never understand.

Yes! I completely agree with you! I also felt Han's reaction to knowing Luke was rather bitter ("yeah... I knew him."), and it's possible he was aware that Luke had made things even worse for his son. Han's comment about too much Vader in Ben also made me wonder if he was only referring to Ben.
