The projected path for Dorian is constantly changing of course. It's still getting more powerful, but its movement is slowing down and tracking more to the south. As of the most recent update, it's scheduled to hit south Florida around Tuesday morning as a category-4 and them move up through Florida and into Georgia.

Once it hits land it will drop quickly to a category-1 and eventually to just a tropical storm. Winds will be most damaging where it makes landfall, but since the storm is slow moving, the problem is how much rain it will dump. They are forecasting it could take around 48 hours to completely pass over an area because of how slow it's moving, and in that time could potentially drop 12-24 inches of rain, so there will be lots of flooding and roads washing out. Hard to believe but wind and debris aren't the biggest dangers. More people die from drowning than anything else.

I live north of where it is supposed to hit, so I'm not too worried. We have lots of water, canned goods, and other essentials. We are not in a flood zone. We will almost certainly lose power. Hard to say for how long. I've been through a few of these and I know the routine, plus I'm an obsessive planner. I got plenty of good stuff to eat and drink and propane to cook on. Might not see me posting for a while, but our house is pretty solid, so no one here needs to worry about me.

Is anyone else here in Dorian's path?

    Thankfully not
I’m not sure what a hurricane would do to the U.K. But it wouldn’t be good
Apparently they fear this could be the most destructive Hurricane since Andrew in 92 which I’m guessing is due to not only the naturally High Tides at the moment increasing the threat of the storm surge but all that rain in a slow moving storm.

Anyway STAY SAFE & hopefully you avoid the worse of this storm

The path keeps getting adjusted east, and that’s good for everyone.

If Dorian stays this far off the coast, I should be fine. Probably still get 40 MPH winds for a day or so but that's a lot better than 135 MPH! Less rain too. Could still lose power though, but better than losing shingles! People along the coast will likely still experience flooding.

Not gonna lie, 1-3 is no big deal to me, but 4 and 5 are serious business, and when I saw earlier projection of a Category-4 headed right to my house, I was worried.

Hope for the best but plan for the worst I say.

Heads up NC Outer Banks, you've got a little Cat-2 headed your way!

One of my best friends she lives in southwest Florida. Hopefully this thing turns more East and goes back out a ways from all of the coasts.

South west Florida looks like it going to miss the worst of it.
The East coast not so much they may not get a direct hit but having a slow moving Cat 4 or 5 moving up the coast is not going to be fun. Then later on you have Georgia & both the Carolinas getting a pounding as well.

Currently, it's supposed to stay just off the Florida coast as it moves up. We'll likely feel some effects, high winds and rain, but nothing like what they are getting in the Bahamas right now. It's going to be really bad there.

I bought all these snacks for when the power goes out, but the storm keeps getting slower. I can’t just look at Doritos and beer and not have any, so probably will have to go get more supplies. Somehow all the canned goods and water have remained untouched.

    Stay safe Rodney-2187.

    I don't (just) mean the hurricane, I also mean don't over-do the doritos and beer! They're very more-ish! :D
