I’d like to see a series of movies about Vader coming to terms with his robotic existence, loss of Pademe , his training with Emperor Palpatine, his time running down Jedi and early resistance forces, It would be cool to see him learning the Dark side and ultimately using his new power to make Troopers and resistance alike fear him.

Perhaps seeing Yoda and OB1 having to hide themselves because he senses “something” familiar and almost finds them out.

Maybe even see him attempt to overthrow Palpatine but Sideous puts him in his place using not more power but more knowledge of the dark side powers.

Would be nice to see it established that Vader was more powerful but could not overcome Palpatine superior knowledge and experience of the Darkside. Show Vader eventually making the decision to submit completely, at least near term to EP.

    I could go on.

I’d like to see a very Dark brutal Vader and Palpatine on film

This could make for a very compelling anthology film if done right.

    STAR WARS
    LORDS OF THE SITH

Even though there's already a novel by this name (which didn't stop TLJ from using the same title from an earlier, now "legends" novel), I think that would be a sufficient if not powerful title.

More Palpatine could be welcome, and there could be a tie-in with the Sequel Trilogy, either with his post-Empire planning or foreshadowing Snoke / The First Order / some future situation looming within or beyond the Sequel Trilogy.

And then, of course, to see Vader completely unleashed, leveraging the fullness of his power while perhaps drawing the viewer closer, more inwardly, to his internal struggles and thinking.

And, of course, this would be a prime film for exploring all sorts of Sith lore.

So, in terms of how "anthology" films can serve a meaningful presence within the larger saga, I believe such a film could purposefully develop Vader and Palpatine, their relationship and motivations, the Sith, and other aspects of Star Wars in dramatic and memorable ways.

I believe Disney would do well to get on this project ASAP. That and the Kenobi film.

We already have novels and comics for this, and well, three movies. It's time for new stories.

It sounds like something fitting a tv show format, rather than a theatrical movie. Sure, it would be interesting to see, but the books and comics handle that pretty well. Since "stuff on screen" is a limited commodity, it would be better used by moving new directions and telling new stories.

When the films are make no a billion per. I see no reason to limit that. Disney can handle several SW trilogies going on at same time. At least they should be able too.

    Quality > Quantity
This is what Disney should do IMO. So, no several SW trilogies at the same time!

It would never happen, but I'd like to see the OT reshot from the empire's perspective. Find out what was going on while we were watching the good guys.

Make it Rated R and this would be amazing! Granted I think it would be great either way, but making it R would allow the carnage that we all know that would ensue.

I feel like it should start at the time Order 66 was given and go forward.

Yeah, I hate to say it, but I'm getting kind of Vader'd out.

That Rogue One scene was great, and I'm excited to see what happens with Kylo in IX, but I just don't know what else there is to tell.

The comics are pretty dang good- if you're looking for a story like this, I'd absolutely suggest them. Rebels has some great Vader moments, too.

But then we've got stuff like that YouTube channel that made the bombastic fan film, and I just feel like the soul of the character is starting to get lost (which hey, I guess that's fitting). People are getting way into Vader for all the wrong reasons, and Badass Space Samurai really only gets you so far in a galaxy full of better potential stories.

My main issue with this idea is that James Earl Jones is Vader to me, so hearing anyone else's voice come out of that character is just ... weird.
Animation is one thing, but a film anthology without Jones is just not something I would want to sit through, and the guy is 88 years old, and it takes approximately 2 years (minimal) to produce these kinds of films, so you're looking at at least 6 years at neck-breaking speed of production to get this done, which would put Jones at 94 years old by the time of completion if this were the current next film series in the pipe.

Considering that there's already RJ's films in the pipe, no earlier than 2020, and then you give approximately 2 years for the back to back cycling means 2024 by the time that trilogy will be completed and leaving room for another trilogy (aka "series"), then you add the 2 years cycling for the idea of a Vader trilogy, and you're looking at Jones being 94 years old by the time he starts the first film, and 98 by the time that trilogy would wrap.

That...that is probably hoping for a bit much.

    Cheers,
    Jayson

After reading the Darth Vader comic series I am convinced they need to make a Vader trilogy.

Not sure how they handle a protagonist ...

Two trilogies, The Clone Wars, various comics and novels...ya, I think they've covered that story by now.

The new canon has kind of retconned the idea that Vader had any struggle post episode 3. In the old canon there was a lot written about how he struggled and was depressed. It was also made to seem that his power was severely damaged and was a bit limited in combat and that his suit was poorly designed, painful and a constant hinderance.
In the new canon he's embraced being Vader within a few weeks, after Sidious sent him on his first mission, the suit is more like armor than a life support system now, his fighting skills are devastating.

On the big screen the newer version of Vader is better. For books and other media that can really dive deep into a characters mind I found the old incarnation of Vader much more interesting. I love the idea of him being so incredibly vulnerable and weak but through his enormous latent power he manages to just about overcome these limitations. In the new canon he's just a terminator like unstoppable killing machine, which is cool, but not as fascinating imo

I don't think a film focusing on these two would be all that interesting following his current canonical depiction. We've seen him kick ass in RO, what more is there to show in a 90 minute film?
However something along the lines of the book Dark Lord The rise of Darth Vader from the old canon, which followed his suffering and adapting to his new reality post ROTS would be fascinating to see. Wouldn't make a lot of money though, would be extremely depressing for most people but the hardcore fans would lap that right up!

Edit: Also if there is to be a film it has to be live action. Cartoon Vader just doesn't compare to the real, heavy, clunky, shiny, wheezing thing. Other characters I can accept in animation, for me Vader only works in live action.

Star Wars Episode 9 is going forwards and not backwards so you are getting what you want and no need to complain about it.

Lol. You complained in this very thread that Star Wars should be going forward instead of backward. I guess your memory is fecal. Examples of going backward include the Han Solo movie and Rogue One the movie.
