TFA was full of surprises (even though some had been spoiled beforehand), but the surprise that touched me the most was how excellent Carrie Fisher still is! I had sort of expected that after decades of drug abuse and electro-shock therapy, she would not be able to carry her role very well anymore. I have always liked Carrie, and she's hillarious in interviews and on stage, but her demeanor has become rather odd in the last few decades - definitely lovable, but weird. There were absolutely no trace of that in TFA's Leia, and while she had matured (much like Han) she was the same leading presence that she was in the OT. I was really impressed with Carrie Fisher, and I sort of feel bad for having nurtured doubt that she could act in a major role again.

Carrie, luv; since you tend to google yourself and might therefore see this (no, just kidding, she won't), I want to thank you for bringing Leia back to us. You are awesome, milady! <3 <3 <3

Thank you! We are naturally enamored with the new cast and Harrison Ford as he brought us Han Solo back, but Carrie made my heart soar. The awkward first meeting between (yes, novel confirmed it) husband and wife after a long time, wry humor especially, tenderness, maturity, sadness, hope - she did it all beautifully.

People tend to forget that Carrie is bipolar and that she has serious memory issues due to the treatments, so what she did in TFA was even more impressive. I always liked her wit and personality, but the way she deals with her illness and her honesty are the most impressive things about her. I hope for more from General Leia in VIII and IX, not the least of which is her meeting with Luke. :)

Leia was one of the biggest aspects of The Force Awakens I was looking forward to. I must admit I was a little apprehensive, but I know now I had nothing to worry about! She was incredible and I was so impressed!

In regards to Carrie's quote about aging and judging the return cast by their looks, I thought Leia/Carrie was awesome in TFA. I can't wait to see the film again and experience her power. She was great! :D
