Han Solo: a big name(and character)with a GREAT story in SW universe. This thread is because in this moment i was thinking about him.We know what happen to him in this movie. He OWN son kill him trying to take him back to his mother. In A New Hope movie we met and know Han Solo as a galactic pirate trying to make money and to survive in a universe where light and dark is in fight.First ...Han Solo last name in spanish means ALONE.Very strange coincidence....This is how i feel about Han Solo...ALONE.I feel Han Solo a lonely man or person.Did you remember in one of the movies Princess Leia give Han Solo the money of a reward because he take her back to the resistance. When Leia say to Han :"You want a reward and that is what you get".He take the money and leave with Chewie. In that moment i feel Han a lonely person. He came back and help Luke to destroy the Death Star....Remember???I NEVER see Han Solo sad BUT in this movie i did.He was with Leia and then suddenly in this movie he is not.Maz tell Han...."Han go back home".He said..."Leia did not want to see me".Han Solo in this movie is a pirate AGAIN.He was a General with the resistance and now not...:(.Han and Leia was together in this saga. They fell in love and have Ben.Ben is in BIG trouble. He is in the dark side.Han try to SAVE his son BUT he tried and fail.I believe that Han SOLO want to have a family and he don't want to be alone in space like a pirate all his life.He have Chewie and he is his BEST friend BUT my question is: Did you think that Han Solo is a lonely person or not???Thoughts???I will start:Yes ...I feel Han Solo a lonely man.He is a GREAT person and cares about people. You know something....He is NOT a Jedi BUT he have the heart(a GOOD heart)of one...;).Is SAD to see a GOOD person SOLO(ALONE) in real life....Han Solo is in heaven NOW.Rest in PEACE my friend and hero Han Solo...;).

i think "solo" coud also be interpreted as "independent". Han does his own thing. lives by his own rules. he's never actually alone because he always has Chewie. he also doesn't trust or like people much, so it feels like his choice to be predominantly alone, which is not the same as "lonely".

all that said, i do agree that he's heartbroken in TFA. he has lost his son and can't face his wife. he still has Chewie, so he's not alone, but he has certainly suffered.

the way he takes Rey in says a lot about his desire to nurture, even cranky as he is. and his willingness to do anything for his son says a lot about his capacity to love.

Han Solo to me has been one of those interesting characters where you get a sense that he doesn't care much about anything aside from Chewie but at the same time, money. He's the kind of guy who doesn't follow the rules, he only does what he wants to do even if his decisions aren't the wisest moves. All he cares about is mostly himself meaning he puts himself first over anyone...but that all changes when his path crosses Luke's, Obi-Wan's and then later, Leia's. If it weren't for Luke and Leia, Han would still be out there doing what he does best for himself. Before TFA, what we know was that he stayed with Leia, had a son with her and when things went downhill that led to Ben turning to the darkside, Han turned to the only thing he was ever good at and I can say the same about Leia. Those two together have been through so much and had seen so many terrible things that tore them apart based on what we have learned so far. It sucks in a way because I always thought they were so good and they were meant for each other. And even after his death, I still believe that. I feel sorry but heartbroken for Leia...

The moment she appeared on screen, I had tears in my eyes.

It made me appreciate the character of Leia more but also Carrie Fisher as an actress who I had met back in 2013 at Fan Expo in Canada. I got her autograph and she was very very nice. Everytime I saw her in the movie and whenever I will happen to watch the OT, I look back on the moment when I met her and I can say that meeting her in person was the best thing that ever happened in my entire life. She's the only SW actress I have met...and I hope one day to meet her again along with Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford (But I doubt it lol) and the new cast. :)

Han Solo said it best about himself in A New Hope:

"I take orders from just one person: me."

He seemed selfish, uncaring, at first, but, once we got to know him, we knew better: he could be selfless, and he was loving.

And we never doubted his daring. He was authentic. And funny as hell.

One the very best characters not only in Star Wars but in all of cinematic history.

Kudos to both Harrison Ford and George Lucas for bringing Han Solo to life in such a memorable way on the big screen.

I think in TFA, Han is lonely because he no longer has his bromance with Luke. I mean the bickering with Leia has a certain charm but it doesn't compete with the emotionality he displays when stuffing Luke into a Tauntaun carcass in ESB. Luke has always been his "kid".

My theory is that Luke's and Han's paths diverged shortly after ROTJ, and that Han sort of shut down emotionally, like Artoo going into low-power mode. Han comes back to life when he realises that he's just found Luke's baby girl.

And sadly...Han won't be around anymore when he says "kid". :( Whether it be to Finn...and or Rey.

Thanks for the like, Light Savior 47. :)

Still think Han could have given Chewie a holographic messege to give to Luke, so we could theoretically hear him say "kid" one more time. And I believe Han chose to be alone, much like Luke and Leia, after social services were unable to locate Ben

Nice!!! Yeah, a lot of people criticises her due to her appearance, but I do think it fits what the character has gone through, all that pain, the heavy burden of being daughter of one of the greatest villains ever in the galaxy and mother of maybe one of the most powerful but sort of disturbed villains might take its toll. That without counting the heartbreak of losing the love of her life and her brother vanished.
