    THIS.

I thought Driver's character was interesting - although I couldn't work out his motivation for being evil.
Rey & Finn - yeah, ok. Likable. Although Finn felt like Boyega's character from Attack the Block in the Star Wars universe.
I laughed at certain bits. Some scenes were very well done and interesting.
But on the whole it didn't feel like Star Wars, it didn't sound like Star Wars and SNOKE WAS A JOKE!
Harrison Ford was a major let down for me. Carrie Fisher can't talk properly. And who was the other guy again? Oh yeah Luke.

Say what you want about the prequels but I came out pumped from those films.

You know a movie is great when you feel no need to argue with any person who, for whatever reason, didn't like it.

I rescind it all back. I saw the film today and I'm completely floored.

It does have a wonderful story. That was without a doubt in my mind the greatest Star Wars film ever and possibly the most entertaining and fun film I've ever seen.

    I was wrong :p

For anyone like me who was worrying, stop. The film is incredible!

Alright, who stole your Cantina log-in and posted under your profile? ;)

In all seriousness, glad to hear you liked it. I hope everyone who was expecting to be disappointed is pleasantly surprised! (Seeing it tonight at a midnight showing and can't wait... very useless day at the office today.)

This film did sound silly from the MSW/MF outline then people started posting out of context dialogue and a few other things that put myself and many others off. Like I said, i was completely wrong, but you should understand why people were worrying about the story a few days ago.
Now that I think about it some of the OT would sound underwhelming written down, this film needs to be seen.

Even the cute boyfriend line isn't cringy at all and fits Finn's character.

Everyone will at least like it. Almost everyone will love it, I guarantee that and as a lot happens in the film with some huge moments and a cliffhanger that are a lot to take in, this is one that will get even better after a couple of viewings.

ESB was given good but not great reviews at the time but it grew into fans hearts, this is and will be exactly the same. It's a phenomenal addition to the franchise. I'm holding back when I say it's only the best Star Wars ever to not gush too much. I wasn't around when the OT was released, this is my first new real Star Wars film (I do like the prequals) and I'm just blown away

This shouldn't be that hard to grasp.

It's because the movie is technically sound but the script isn't that great. So you'll get younger/less-sophisticated fans creaming themselves and older/more-sophisticated fans left disappointed.

Have you seen it yet? I'm old-ish and as cynical/miserable and hard to please as they come. The story is Kylo and Han's really and it's as good as any story in the saga. It reads like an uniteresting story, but when you see it play out....There are no words

Forget the overall conflict with Jedi/Sith...Republic/Empire etc. This is a small scale personal story and it's wonderful

Ah, so people who really enjoy this movie have a poor taste in film? Come on mate, don't be a dick.

I thought this was incredible, and my film tastes are defnitely more Kurosawa/Hitchcock/Kubrick rather than Bay.

I think people got carried away over Kasdan coming on board.
He's great with dialogue but he didn't come up with the stories of the OT.
I think this story was a bit rushed for obvious reasons. It deserved more.
In the end, it was a more bloated version of ANH without the great ending.

I thought the film was great and people really need to stop expecting all questions to be answered in this movie, theres still two episodes left to explore everything. The performances of the newcomers were really strong and I'm really looking forward to seeing how this trilogy pans out. I thought the humour was really on point too. Off now shortly for my second viewing!

    What is this, Downton Abbey?

"Send the movie down to the servants. They will love it. Let's return to watching the Life of Pi on repeat."

This is what happens when you don't listen to THE FRELLIG CREATOR and have fans make the film .

My thoughts: Kylo's motivations will be explored in the Marvel comics, novels, games (less likely, strange that EA aren't pumping out the product yet), Episode VIII, or even an anthology. We'll get to see why he is evil, beyond the hints that Han and Leia were poor parents and Luke's training was a failure. To get some more explanation of that would be great, but it wasn't needed for the film to work and I think that's the difference between Kasdan and Abrams - Kasdan told Abrams to let the characters speak for themselves and not to over-explain.

This movie was really well written, really well crafted, and really well performed. The over-arching Starkiller motivation to the plot was a weaker element, felt rushed in parts and was overly-derivative. But I understand why they did it - not all movie-goers are super fans. Now we can look forward to some really great twists, a dark tone, and a lot of character exposition in Episode VIII - but hopefully it doesn't start on a secret base being invaded by The First Order. I'm hoping the opening crawl starts something like: "The fragile peace between the REPUBLIC and FIRST ORDER has been shattered. All out war has consumed the galaxy once more as both sides escalate the conflict. The RESISTANCE led by GENERAL LEIA ORGANA seeks to end the war in the construction of a new super weapon, but faces resistance from elements of the REPUBLIC. Strange stories of a cloaked figure and his staff-wielding friend have emerged from the battles of the outer-rim as LUKE and REY pursue an ancient JEDI artifact in a bid to restore peace to the galaxy."

My thoughts.... Bit underwhelmed if I am honest. I left feeling a little flat, and that some of the emotional investment in the OT and even the PT with the overall arc was gone. For me too many unanswered questions and events hinted at. The cgi was pretty disappointing in places I.e. On Hans freighter with the anus tentacle things, and snoke. First hour I loved, though pacing was great but then the plot just slowed down and the rushed feel became more apparent. Poe dameron felt like a wasted opportunity as well, seemed missing a bot of cynicism, far too nice when he wasn't explaining the plot to the audience. And I think saddest of all for me the soundtrack didn't even match up to even the prequel trilogy, with one or too exceptions, but even then it was because it OT themes being used. Great bits, the mix of nostalgia, kylo ren, chewie and Han, and a great start for Finn and Rey.

One thing that really stuck in my head though was carrie fishers voice. I couldn't get past her sounding the same as "Angela" on family guy. I kept expecting her to say "Griffin......."

Good start but a bit too Disney and JJ for me, just got in and empire is on the TV, and the force awakens ain't a patch on it.
