Hey guys and Gals! Hope you are all doing great! I have been looking at the Rogue One trailers and something came to mind and I thought I'd share it with all of you. Back when Disney acquired SW, I was greatly thrilled that the SW saga was finally going to expand beyond ROTJ. I was real pumped but sadly TFA was a letdown for me. One of the main reasons of this being that apart from that movie being a clone of ANH, the movie felt odd and distant from all six of Lucas's films. Gone were all the wonderful aliens that united the galaxy far far away in order for Disney to add their own touch. I was bummed at the new direction that the SW movies were going and when I saw the first Rogue One trailer I was disappointed as it looked as if this movie was going along the way as TFA did.

I am glad to say that having seen the new trailer got my hopes up again and this movie really looks like it will be awesome. Seeing things like the Scout Walker and the AT AT's is awesome and the Death Star Droid and the Mon Calamari is sweet as well. Now my main concern is this, as you have all seen, while it looks real awesome, RO also seems to lack the familiar aliens that mesh the SW movies nicely. While this by no means will ruin the movie, seeing a bunch of new never before seen aliens has me a bit worried.

It's true that I love seeing new aliens and creatures but one of the things that I loved from Lucas was that he would always integrate new things with the old ones. Most creatures that were seen in one movie would eventually pop up in the others and this gave us a nice feel that we were still in the same galaxy. We were thrilled from the moment we saw creatures like Ithorians, Rodians and Aqualish and these as well as many others continued to pop up here and there around the 6 SW movies.

Now seeing the RO trailers has me wondering if Disney will follow the steps of Lucas and give us a world that meshes together nicely or will they make every new SW movie a alien of the day thing like Power Rangers or Ultraman. RO so far has delivered quite a few creatures that we had never seen before:

While this is cool and I happen to like a few of those designs, I'm starting to worry a bit cause apart from once again failing to see any Lucas aliens apart from Mon Cals, we haven't even seen at least one alien from TFA either! While TFA was not my favorite SW movie, it did include quite a few cool looking aliens that would have looked awesome in RO and it would have made the movies seem like they were in the same universe.

Sadly this doesn't seem to be the case and that's what has me a little worried. I love SW with all my heart and having grown up with the OT gave me the chance to deeply fall in love with the galaxy far far away right from the start. These are more than just another ''space movie'' for me and I'm pretty sure for most of you as well. It is with this in mind that I hope that Disney understands this and continues to expand the galaxy we all know and love and that it doesn't turn SW into just another cool looking special effects movie where they forget the old and stick new things in each and every movie just for the eye candy factor.

I enjoy the new aliens, the more the merrier, I have no idea where the thin line is between introducing more new aliens or just base everything on the old ones. Just from the story, we are conquering new planets, it may fit well to have a majority of new aliens.

I don't see a problem with only seeing new aliens but I wouldn't mind a Rhodian or another familiar alien there so I get your point. I guess I wouldn't be that disappointed though as RO has a more "war movie" feel so I'd like more aliens in Episode VIII.

By the looks of things I think you will get your wish as RO indeed looks like it's going to be a war movie and a good one at that!
