What is happening is those who claim SW is dead post-TLJ could not refute tje ticket sales except to claim it was some master conspiracy and that employees were buting up the tickets. However, the argument goes against logic because as I said it would make Disney go into a double deficit by making the movie via millions and then buying the tickets; putting them in a major negative and taking longer to recoup profits. Disney would not do this, IMHO.

I'm a worrier, so I went to the theater today and printed out my tickets at the kiosk. I usually just use the barcode in the app, but just in case I wanted to have an actual ticket. I take no chances with a Star Wars premiere!

Do or do not. There is no try.

Sorry, I had to. It's Catina law.

Look up your theater and showtime on Fandango and check that way. Did someone buy the tickets for you? It usually says something about the format on the ticket.

Hm, I still have the chance to go on par with both of you. First showing here at 10:00 a.m. CET.

But then I would have to take a day of, and would be there without the gang. So I bought them for 4:30 p.m. on the 18th, when the youngling has dropped out of school.

Maybe I sneak out and go for that early screening too…

Actually, last Friday I was the first to buy tickets for that time of the day. For the 8 o’clock show, many were taken from day one, but none for thie afternoon. So free choice of seats.

I'd already booked to go with my mate, his two kids and my daughter as we have a little tradition of doing movie on the Sunday before Christmas each year (TFA, RO and TLJ have obviously all been featured), but over the weekend I was talked into a ST triple-bill which starts a 18:30 on 18th December and culminates in TRoS at 00:01 on Thursday 19th!

At least I'll be safe to move through the threads over opening weekend :D

i'm now doing this as well. cancelled my 9am showing on the 19th as soon as i saw midnight tickets go on sale!
I was tempted by the ST triple bill.. but i have been known to fall asleep during Star Wars movies in recent times and i couldn't risk it :D

*i am seeing TROS on the evening of the 19th as well :D

I clicked around on different showtimes in my area to see what was still available. Many of them are not completely sold out because there's still a few seats in the very front row and such. It seems people would rather see it later in the evening or the next day in a better seat than sit in the less desirable seats. That's different than what I saw with Endgame where even the front row sold out quickly. Those seats may sell eventually, we are weeks away still, but there doesn't seem to be the same fever, at least not yet. I don't think the full marketing Force has started yet. We're probably in for a barrage closer to Disney+ starting up.

Oh, I just saw that I forget to mention the date - I’m talking about 10 a.m. or 4:30 p.m. on the 18th. Maybe I need to catch up on @Angelman

Yeah, I figured to hell with it... I'm only gonna get to do this the once and then the Skywalker Saga becomes something we reminisce about rather than get to look forward to new instalments of. Had he still be around, I know damned well my mate Nick would have been all over it too, so I'm going for the both of us ;)

Stop taunting us damn it!! :D

Also, tickets for Endgame went on sale April 2 ahead of an April 26 release. Tickets for The Rise of Skywalker are on sale almost 2 months ahead of its release. Some people just don't plan that far ahead, especially around the holidays. I expect a lot more hype as we get closer. People will get Star Wars fever!

I'm not saying Star Wars will make anywhere near what Endgame did, but comparisons are inevitable. The Force is strong with The Rise of Skywalker.

How cool is this. I remember my father bringing me when I was 4 to see Star Wars when it was re-released in 1977... now I'll be bringing my 8 year old to see the conclusion of the Saga.

That’s the reason for the afternoon showing, waiting for the seven year old one coming home from school to watch the final installment together.

First Star Wars showing for me was ESB with my Dad when it debut, initially knew ANH only from the Panini sticker collection album, until it was shown time and again over the years in the late 70’s/early 80’s. This is how movie theaters worked back in the (g)olden days, showing good movies once a while, years after their first release. But in this part of the world, this practice has died out a long time ago.

Yes, it was very obvious that it was a 3D showing. This is at an AMC theater, also.
