    Given the current climate of potential spoilers, I feel it's time to revive my pre-TLJ thread... :D

    Take a second to imagine a world where you could watch a film blissfully unaware of what was about to unfold on screen.

    Now imagine that film was the FINAL instalment of the Skywalker saga!

    Welcome, fellow SW fanatics, to this daring (and probably futile) endeavour.

    Now, if you're like me, and you read ALL the script leaks, watched every trailer and TV spot, and devoured all the tidbits of info for TFA, then perhaps you crave a SW movie-going experience that will surprise at every turn.

    Of course, that is easier said than done.

    Most will argue that avoiding all the leaks for EpIX will be an impossible task. And, if we were left to our own devices as die-hard fans that check this forum on a daily basis, I would agree.

    BUT, there is hope. If we band together for the next 11 months, maybe, just maybe, this feat can be achieved.

    Make no mistake, if you choose this path, it will be a long and challenging road fraught with danger littered throughout Facebook feeds and accidental spoiler-tag-less posts on this very forum. The next 11 months could very well be the toughest ever faced as a SW fan post-Disney acquisition.

    All of us will be tempted, and not all of us will succeed.

    And that is why we need a community of anti-spoiler brethren to hold us to our word.

    That is why I ask - no, implore - all of you to take the pledge.

    Together we can overcome the desire to peep at unofficial leaks. Together we can truly experience EpIX for the first time as it was intended to be seen - in theatres. And even though we will be watching EpIX on opposite sides of the country or globe, we will be comforted in the knowledge of what we achieved right here, together.

    So, repeat after me:

    This is such a good idea and I really want to do this but I don’t know if I have the strength to do it :(
    I was a good girl with TFA and avoided most of the spoilers but then after the shock :eek:of Han Solo’s death ( I did not think they would go there )I needed to be prepared as it shocked me big time ( am invested in these characters- new ones as well as legacy ones )so I knew what was coming in TLJ and it helped to prep me . I don’t know what to do . :confused:Will you help me ? :oops:I can avoid spoilers - I just need to know who lives and who dies that’s all lol. I want to take the vow ! :D(r2-d2)

    Spoilers and official news (like trailers, images etc.) are part of the fun for me. It generates excitement and hype. I'll never forget the journey to TFA. The journey was way better than the movie itself (which I love!).

    Yeah, I will try to avoid unofficial spoilers one (maybe two) month prior the movie's release because that's usually the time where real spoilers and leaks appear.

    What I really want to try: I don't want to watch all the TV spots.

    i took the pledge last go-round with TLJ with middling success ~ short of going dark on the internet, it's almost impossible to avoid the spoilers.

    this time i'm just going to roll in them like a lion rolling in a fresh carcass.
    i see a spoiler now and i'm all:

    I want to take this pledge, but it is so hard these days not to stumble upon spoilers. Even in this forum, you see thread titles which IMHO are spoiler-ish in nature.

    I pledge to do the best I can, but it is tough. And I will be discussing official news and releases (especially the trailer when we get one). I am looking forward to our first trailer but at the same time don't mind the wait.

    I wish I had that willpower.

    The only film I didn't have at least some spoilers for in this new canon is The Force Awakens, and it was definitely the most magical experience.

    But I don't have that strength anymore.

    I will follow the rumored spoilers. TFA was huge as far as spoilers went and I followed them very closely. It did not take away from my enjoyment of the film in any way. With TLJ the spoilers were very much contained. I followed them but most of the big spoilers were never leaked. While there was more of a surprise element with TLJ, I can’t really say that being surprised enhanced my experience watching it.

    That being said, once the movie is released, I do try to avoid reading comments on the movie until after I see it.

    I sort of spoiled some things for myself before watching TLJ, so I'm definitely trying to go a different route this time.

    Edited to add that I'm a newer fan and didn't watch TLJ until it was released on Blu-Ray.
