I solemnly swear to avoid the next trailer/ leaks! TAKE THE PLEDGE!

I'd love to do this. But I'm not overly confident about this movie or where the ST is going, so I need to see something to get me pumped!

 

I'm seriously starting to reconsider my stance on this: this is the most excited I've ever been for a SW film, I'm all in, I have 5000% confidence in RJ as both writer and director, etc.

But heck, if I'm avoiding this trailer, I'm avoiding the premiere too (just in case).

I think this difficult decision-making calls for some blue milk.

 

Like all of us, Ive been waiting a while for the next trailer... Im not missing it

 

As much as i want to, i simply don't think i'll be able to resist watching that trailer, especially when the movie is more than 3 months away.

Still, this support group would be a nice initiative ... if it was in another place : putting it here is like doing an AA meeting in a street with five bars. I know i will be too tempted just by coming here.

I really do respect your decision sir and kudos to you for making that decision! But I can’t take that path. I simply can’t resist...

 

I'll meet you halfway. I'm watching the next trailer (I honestly can't wait) but will avoid all TV spots in December when we get bombarded with TLJ advertising. I remember TFA released too many tv spots (international tv spots too) in this final weeks (one showing Ren pulling his lightsaber on Rey after she left Max's Castle).

 

I'm cool with all types of spoilers, so I'm going to stick around and read/watch everything!

 

Staying around for spoilers ain't my idea of courage, it's more like suicide! Why don't you come with us and avoid spoilers, you're pretty good in a fight, we could use you.

 

I think I can handle myself.

 

If I did this and not look at any spoilers for the next 3 months I would die lol I can’t imagine not looking at spoilers for TLJ it would drive me insane lol

I wish I could but there's no way I could stay away from the trailer. Part of the excitement for me is watching the trailer endlessly in the week leading up to the release. Good luck to anyone who won't be watching anything till it comes out. That truly is determination!

 

UPDATE: I've made up my mind.

I love getting up at 02:00 - 04:00 (BST over here) in the early hours of the morning just to watch a Star Wars trailers, and the five hours of talk and rewatching that follows.

I will be watching the final trailer as soon as it drops, and talking about it on here until I fall asleep that evening, at which point I will be taking my leave from The Cantina, Reddit (not that I read much on Reddit), etc., until I have seen this film twice (midnight release and after college that same day), and will also be watching nothing else - whether that be TV spots, international trailers or interviews - until December 8th, the date of the premiere, which I will only be watching to hear about BTS experiences moreso than any actual story elements.

As soon as the pre-premiere stuff ends and everyone goes inside, my phone is absolutely going into hibernation for a week until I see the film.

Yes. Exactly. Exactly! You would be right because I actually ruined the surprise.
And... what is the interest to ruin a surprise? What will you get knowing in advance what is inside the packaged gift ? Mmmmmmmh? More happy, will you be, mh? More valuable your gift will be, mh?
I guess no. I'm sure no.
What you'd gain would be only a little less excitement when opening the package.
If you didn't know what I had offered you, your excitement would have been at top ; but once I've said it, I ruined the thing.

That is the next trailer. It will ruin your excitement on december, 15th.
First, because he will show you things you shouldn't have seen til december, 15th.
Second, more treacherous : remember TFA and R1 trailers, and all these outrageous scenes that were not in the final movies. What did you gain to watch these trailers ? Before watching the movie : false hopes. When watching: deception. After watching: treason.

What actual gain then, mh?

Best of luck to all of you. I honestly wish I had the restraint to do this, I'm sure it'll be a rewarding experience to walk in to the theater with almost no expectations or spoilers.

 

I see it like this - being a Star Wars fan isn't just about turning up on premiere night and enjoying the film. It's about everything else in between. I've probably enjoyed myself more discussing spoilers than I have actually watching the wretched films! Therefore I'm going to shower myself with trailer and spoilers, lathering myself up gleefully with them so I can enjoy the journey before I get to what I'll likely find to be an underwhelming destination!

 

since i don't expect an underwhelming destination, i'm content to remain in filthy ignorance until the day of reckoning ~ hahahaha
i feel like i have had the best of both worlds up til now: i've roiled around in the speculation, glutted myself on Force Friday, and endlessly obsessed over everything Star Wars right up to this point. now it's time to pull back, go into deprivation, and then enjoy it all the more on its return.
