The Empire Strikes Back is not only the best star wars film but one of the greatest films of all time in general. New Hope and Return of the Jedi are also great films in cinematic history.

I don't mind the changes George Lucas made to the OT all that much except Anakin's jedi ghost at the end of ROTJ now being Christensen's.

The prequel and sequel trilogies aren't near the level of the originals but overall I find them very underrated and they keep being greatly enhanced by books, comics, films, games, shows, etc.

Anakin whined a lot but he wasn't wrong about a lot of things and he did look cool and was truly a badass pilot and with a sabre. He's awesome when he's in action and not talking!

The Clone Wars is awesome and has the best animation but I enjoy Rebels a bit more. Resistance isn't bad but overall just the weakest show.

Rogue One and The Mandalorian is overall the best live action star wars since the original trilogy.

Knights of the Old Republic 2 is better than the first game.

I miss Star Was Galaxies and want something like that on the new game consoles.

EA Battlefront and especially II are awesome. Very underrated!

Ahsoka is a great character but overrated.

I love Grogu but am very happy that Din will be going solo for the next season and that the focus will likely fully be on him and Mandalore culture

Star Wars: Lost Stars is one the best star wars books and a must read!

Shadows of the Empire was an awesome book, game and toy line. It needs a film or show based on.

Dash Rendar should be canon again and appear in The Mandalorian season 3 or if there's ever a Solo 2

If Luke really wanted to best help his friends he would have dropped off Artoo who provided all the actual aid and hightailed it back to Dagobah.

 

Better still. Artoo can pilot the X-Wing by himself. No need for Luke to leave Dagobah at all.

 

"Kanjiklub" sounds less like something from Star Wars and more like something you'd see on a college bulletin board. On the board, there's a flier that reads: "Join the Kanjiklub! Be introduced to the amazing world of Japanese Calligraphy! Meeting in Room 502, Wednesdays at 7pm."

 

The first time I saw TFA I thought everybody was saying "Ganja Club" and I was equally confused and amused.

 

Yikes. Yeah, that would have been a totally different kind of movie.

 

TCW and the Bad Batch should be retitled "What the prequels were trying to say was...."

Bo-Katan is one of the best Star Wars characters and anyone who disagrees is wrong.

Trace and Rafa are not bad characters and their 4 episodes in tcw are some of the best. It needed to be said. Fight me.

Star wars hot takes

1. Protagonist needs to have a hero journey, must learn through set back and improve throughout
2. Rey never got that, she was perfect at everything from the get-go
3. Bill and teds excellent adventure was the Godafther compared to anything in the sequel trilogy
4. Respect legacy characters . Respect canon ,
5. To create strong female characters, you do not have to make the male characters inferior.
6. Do not introduce problems without reason ie running out of fuel.
7. Most importantly do not insult fans if they do not like your re-imagining of a beloved franchise.

 

Cal Kestis and Kanan Jarrus would have worked really well as one character, in retrospect. (I'm still working out how it would work in full, but there's a solid story in there, one that makes both characters even more interesting than if they had stood alone.)

The Valkorion twist in SWTOR was a bad twist because the reveal is far less interesting than the assumed truth.

For those that don't know:

Spoiler: Knights of the Fallen Empire Spoilers

Valkorion is the Sith Emperor that was defeated earlier in the game. The problem is that it turned a cool, interesting and brutal extremist of a villain into a big bad overlord. The idea that the Eternal Empire uses the Force differently from the Sith and the Jedi, taking both out with equal brutality was an interesting one. Instead we got Sith Empire 2.0. The game still did some pretty interesting stuff with the character, but his introduction and thematic foil weren't well-executed in-game IMO.

A big part of me wishes that the whole Knights of the Fallen Empire promo story was the setting for the Sequel Trilogy instead. Heck, you could even pull off the terrible twist the Fallen Throne did to semi-decent effect. Imagine if Episode 7 started with Luke as a tyrannical ruler of a third party that was hunting the remnants of the Empire (possibly led by an old ally like Han or someone more closely associated with the Empire, or maybe a new ally that can be introduced as an enemy in the tie-in material) and fighting the New Republic forces led by Leia Organa. Luke's forces are led by his twin sons, but Luke's location is kept secret. However, a successful sneak attack on one of the sons allowed for the New Republic forces to find a map that leads to Luke. A map that ends up on the wastes of Jakku...
(Vaylin's early childhood in KOTET could be given to Rey, which would be an interesting change of fates.)

You could have characters play with the idea of who Luke is now and what happened. Was he corrupted or possessed? Was Luke trying to prepare the galaxy for something even worse? Did something happen when he was training new Jedi that caused him to forsake that path? Was this always the plan?

Skytroopers would be the next step of troopers in the franchise, following Stormtroopers (and taking on the Skywalker name in a way) but also being droids, based on Battle Droids and their effectiveness. (Cost efficiency, lack of betrayal, etc.) The Knights of Zakuul would be a nice foil to both the Jedi Knight in that the KoZ would be what the Jedi were (and thus a reflection of the past), as well as to the Knights of Ren, who in this world would be Dark Side mercenaries working for the Remnant.

The problem would be Luke and how to redeem him, but I have ideas for that.

Interestingly enough, just because this idea is cool to me, that doesn't mean it would work in actuality. TROS uses incredibly similar concepts, and we all know how I feel about that movie...

 

Jacen Solo was a good antagonist

 

Jar jar is a good character for what he is meant to do. Which is being a bafoon.

 

I liked their arc too. I liked it better than the Bad Batch TCW arc, actually.

Rey being Palpatine's granddaughter was a good plot twist.

Padme Amidala was a stronger character than Leia if you compare their ENTIRE trilogies side by side.
