Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker brought back Emperor Palpatine in body form, with Ian McDiarmid playing the role once again. And while we may have thought that would be his last time on-screen as the evil Sith Lord, the actor could be returning sooner than anticipated.

Speaking at his own panel during the most recent edition of the Imperial Commissary Collectors Convention (ICCC), the actor said the following:

Initial thought points to Obi-Wan Kenobi, which is less than a month away. Having Palpatine's apprentice as the main antagonist of the show certainly leaves room, and it makes sense for the Emperor to appear in the series. Moreover, Hayden Christensen was announced to be back as Darth Vader, which could hint at a reunion between Christensen and McDiarmid for the first time since Revenge of the Sith. Having him interact with Palpatine would make a lot of sense. In fact, Ian McDiarmid has hinted before at a possible appearance in this show.

Andor could also fit McDiarmid's description, as the show will debut in a few months and will deal with the gritty aspects of the Rebel Alliance when the Empire is at its peak. Palpatine's presence could very easily loom over that series as well.

We will not have to wait long to find out. Obi-Wan Kenobi will debut its first two episodes on May 27th, while Andor will supposedly start streaming later this summer. We will likely learn its specific release date during next month's Star Wars Celebration, where a trailer or teaser is also expected.
