Ideas and Recommendations for Improving The Cantina

Wise,friendly,great post ,funny,informative ,everything which is a positive rating should give credits/trophy points to make it more realistic to reach the high ranks like Jedi master and beyond ( which I will never be able to) .

How about an upgrade in the quoting system? Many times I see people (myself included) get negative quotes by members who do not post anything themselves. They don't have posts of their own and they don't even comment on what you wrote but if they don't like it they just slap the negative quote on you and keep walking. Negatives should not be given lightly and I think that if I'm going to give a dislike or a trolling quote to somebody, I should at least let that person know why I am giving them said quote and at the same time give them a chance to defend themselves but how unfair it is for many of us to be given negative quotes by people who don't write anything. It sucks to get negatives from members who haven't been in the Cantina for the longest and then they just randomly pass by, give you the negative quote and then disappear once more.

 

Away with the rating system! People should be free to speak their mind and not be corrected and restricted to socially accepted thought by means of a rating system.

Think about it. Removing it would only have benefits. What should be rewarded is 'what you contribute' to the forum like posts, threads and polls, not what you actually say.

 

But ratings are fun!...not everything has to be deep philosophical discourse. Sometimes someone makes a joke...and instead of people posting "That was funny to me, let me explain why...", they can just click the funny button and move on.
And as far as the deep conversations go, I think the people that want to reply with words in posts will do so, whether or not there is a rating system.
But you may be right about it encouraging folks to speak their minds a bit more. But brace for way more ban threats and "address the post not the poster" mantra recitals if that happens.

 

If someone makes a joke, you laugh or giggle. You don't have to show people by means of a rating that it was a funny rating.

Sometimes, people here have great thoughts and ideas but these are boggled down by many negatives. While I don't mind the quote system, I do agree that what you contribute to the forum like posts, threads and polls should be considered as you mentioned Ammianus. If someone will give you a rating, that person should be somebody that contributes to the forum and not just a random passerby that's gonna give you troll quotes cuase you say you like Greedo and he/she doesn't.

 

I agree. Sometimes when you get a negative quote and you check who gave it to you, you find out that the person is even a new member without any posts at all! Why should members who have been here for the longest receive negative quotes from somebody who just joined weeks ago and doesn't contribute anything?

Another thing is that it should be considered how fair the quote is when they give it to you. We are all free to like one movie and dislike the other but it isn't fair to get negative quotes on your profile just because you say things like that you prefer ROTJ to TESB. We are not drones here and if a fan likes TFA even more than any movie in the OT then we should respect that and not quote him as a troll just because we don't agree with him.

 

I completely agree with you. That would be the best system. It would be fair and honest

Indeed. There's a system in place to handle it, as the moderation staff had its fair share of issues before in that regard. If you feel there's someone with multiple accounts here, we could always check it out for you.

 

I was thinking about a character gallery where people can discuss every character in the Star Wars Universe with a small biography.
