    Not strictly speaking either an idea or a recommendation but I couldn't find an 'adoration' thread on here (perhaps that's my idea, there should be one of those!)

    Anyway, I'm new to this forum but already I can see myself spending far too much time getting lost on here. I've run forums in the past and currently run a website so I have some first hand experience of how tricky these things can be, though never on this scale.

    Bravo to all the staff members who keep this ship afloat and thank you so much to everyone who contributes so that people like me can while away their hours with Star Wars themed procrastination.

    I would like to propose two new neutral ratings to the list of forum post ratings.

    First, I would really like to see one that expresses shock at what was posted.
    I'm thinking Admiral Ackbar on this one. "It's a TRAP!"(ackbar)

    Second, I would like to see one that expresses an uncaring or apathy response; something to straddle like and dislike.
    Boba Fett might be a good pic for that one.. Or maybe his mandalor symbol as like and dislike are symbols.:rolleyes:

    Just a thought on the ever persistent negative/positive rating debate.

    Would it be possible to limit a poster's ability to give out rankings if they don't ever actually post? We seem to have some people who join the cantina, give people negative and positive rankings, but never join the debate. In my opinion, it damages the discussion if you have people who just come here to pass judgment, but aren't willing to actually defend their own viewpoints and/or join in the discussion. (or if you want to go to conspiracy theory-like levels, they could be creating fake accounts to make their viewpoints seem more popular than they are)

    Ideally, it would work so that you couldn't, lets say, give more rankings than twice your post count. But I would imagine that might not be something that comes with the forum software package. But maybe something requiring 20 posts or so before you can rank others' posts. This would at least force the member to engage in conversation before passing judgment from the shadows. Forcing people to engage will make them less likely to abuse the feedback system as its always more difficult to insult someone if you may actually talk to them (or if they stand the chance actually receive feedback themselves).

    May not be possible, but its just my thought.

    1.Short Star Wars story contest/ Star Wars Fan Fiction Olympics :
    Once a month, we write a short story and the staff members will be the judges.

    Yup. So that way when people look up who's who, they can learn about the 1030th a little more. It would also help people who are trying to figure who is in the 1030th, you have us all right there.

    Of course, I'm not saying this to get my name out there. I was just thinking that if people are curious about us, we are right there amongst all the Staff and popular people. It makes it easier for people to learn about us and see what we do, and who we all are.

    Well, who knows. I only suggested this to help people figure out who's who and what's what. Honestly, even if I wasn't part of the 1030th I would have suggested this anyway, it has nothing to do with me being a member.

    Yeah, that wasn't sarcastic at all. @Stormagadon is one of the nicest and most respected members on the site, 1030th or not. If you had an issue, he'd be one of the first to try and help you solve it. He deserves better than a snarky, backhanded comment that seems to be more about you than him. No hard feelings though, just sticking up for my friend.
