Identifying the Bit Players

    So, I've now seen the official cast listing, but I'm still confused as to who is playing who. Thought this would be a good place to figure things out until the Databank catches up!

    It's easy enough with the characters listed by rank (e.g. Crystal Clarke is identifiable in the movie, and plays Ensign Goode; she delivers a line to Leia). But what about other people? I had a hard time identifying Leanne Best, who apparently plays someone named Min Sakul... who was that?

    Ones I've identified:

    Emun Elliott ... Brance (delivers quite a few lines at the Resistance base)
    Pip Torrens ... Colonel Kaplan (seen with the First Order, looks a bit like Mark Strong)
    Harriet Walter ... Dr. Kalonia (the medic Chewbacca flirts with)
    Crystal Clarke ... Ensign Goode (delivers a line to Leia very close to the end of the film)
    Kate Fleetwood ... First Order Officer (First Order tech who tells Hux about BB-8 and FN-2187, near the start)
    Hannah John-Kamen ... First Order Officer (First Order tech who tells Hux the weapon is ready)
    Maisie Richardson-Sellers ... Korr Sella (the girl we see on Hosnian Prime)
    Warwick Davis ... Wollivan (looks like a squinty pig, at Maz's castle)
    Sebastian Armesto ... Lieutenant Mitaka (the First Order officer who tells Kylo about "the girl")
    Thomas Brodie-Sangster ... First Order Officer (is the first to notice Finn and Poe stealing the TIE)

    Here are the characters I'm having a hard time with:

    Miltos Yerolemous ... Bar Patron (is this Crimson Corsair?)
    Pip Andersen ... Lead Stormtrooper (the one who marks Finn with blood?)
    Claudia Sermbezis ... Lema Eeelyak
    Leanne Best ... Min Sakul
    Philicia Saunders ... Tabala Zo

    Any thoughts?

    I have one: Underutilized.
    Particularly Pip Andersen:

    So.. the best we could do with that was make him a stormtrooper??(stormtrooper)

    You can throw in Miltos as well. Skilled swordsman and they couldn't even find a way to exploit that either.(lightsaber)

    Also, not currently on this list was an asian martial arts troupe. We did an article on them some time ago. I believe they wound up playing Kanja Clan. Again, monster bait was probably not the best utilization of their talent.(wampa)

    Thats not saying the film sux because of this; it's still awesome.:D Just my thoughts on the matter.:rolleyes:

    I believe Pip Andersen—Lead Stormtrooper—was the stormtrooper that fought the light saber-wielding Finn.

    Is that the girl that runs to the balcony surrounded by a crowd when the First Order fire their weapon and gets wiped out? That was Maisie, but was just unsure if that is where you meant with Hosnian Prime? :)

    Talon, I totally agree with you. It seems a total waste, hopefully both will remain in Episode VIII in roles where their skills will have good use.

    They confirmed the planet we see is Hosnian Prime.
    Shame Maisie's lines and scenes talking with Leia were cut!

    Do we know this for a fact. ie. that she had a speaking role?

    It would totally suck if you were cast in the movie as big as Star Wars and were almost entirely cut from the final edit with little to show for on your showreel.
    I thought she was cute though in the little scene and showed some astonishing emotion, albeit not for long. <3

    It's possible that by 'Lead Stormtrooper' he probably even played several parts including the ones you mentioned along with the storm trooper that leavs a bloody mark on Finn's helmet.. along with any other memorable storm troopers that were flipped/thrown around during the explosions (given his Parkour skills).. They probably got their $$$ worth with him and also he contributed to more than just 1 scene.

    The rebel pilots came off to me like they had walked into a Starbuck's and cast. Kind of wish they'd go back to the 'grizzled veteran's' look.

    Three more I think I've figured out:

    Sasha Frost ... Jakku Villager (the first villager we see pick up a blaster and aim, preparing for the First Order to land)

    Philicia Saunders ... Tabala Zo (the First Order tech girl who tells Hux that Starkiller is ready; she has a couple of lines in two different scenes)

    Brian Vernal ... Bala-Tik (Han actually says his name but it's hard to hear... the Irish(?) leader of the Guavian gang)

    And MAYBE:

    Leanne Best ... Min Sakul (another First Order tech woman, she has a lengthy dialogue with Hux about the location of BB-8 and FN-2187)

    I'm surprised that a few First Order officers (particularly women) are given first and last names; usually Imperial characters are credited by rank and last name.
