If Moderators Don't Take Action I Am Going To Start A Quote War

I'm with you 100% Merman as this is very unfair indeed. If moderators are not going to do anything to stop this then they should remove the whole quoting system and keep things fair.

 

Don't get whiney .people are allowed to disagree with you. What's tha problem ? I once posted unfavourable stuff at the kylo ren thread and they ripped me apart .thats cantina life .

I get that it's frustrating to see a comment you made shot down. But you need to understand that it wasn't a knee-jerk reaction. If you read the comments that follow, you'll get a better idea of why people thought it ok to dislike your comment. It felt needlessly negative with no proof to back up the pessimism.

I'd also like to add that people didn't dislike your post so much as the video. I stand by my view on THAT. Pure bloody cancer.

That being said, I'm sorry that you were hurt. I try not to dislike comment. You're free to dislike any one one of my posts. I shitpost about Kylo Ren a lot so you might find me on one of those threads

 

At first, I was rather dubious about the ability of members to literally "downvote" others if they disagreed. I felt like it would lend itself to abuse. But then, as I spent more time posting I began to feel that the system was more in place to encourage positivity, and I was more prone to put a positive spin on my posts, even if I was disagreeing. As much as I would love to be a jerk sometimes, I will often sit there and pre-edit my post for a long time until it both gets my point across and puts a positive spin on it. Of course for me, it's one of those "challenge accepted" things, where I ask myself: "How can I say this and not piss everyone off?".

 

i am sure people didn't agree with you just for the fun of it . And as you can see I didn't pushed a negative button too.and on top of all you have much more positive ratings than negatives ! Everyone gets negatives ratings from time to time .you get a few and start crying and want to take revenge.

I only said that I addressed his comment and my disliking it. I gave a reason (maybe not to him personally, this is a public thread), I said very clearly that I disliked the fact that the video was so shifty when it came to editing away Hamill's positive comments and only highlighting the negative ones

It doesn't matter if one of the posts by @LilyInTheSkywalker addressed another person, her point still stands. In it she gave valid reasons for why she carried out said action.

@Merman Have you noticed the pattern linking all those ratings? Perhaps it's less to do with you, and more to do with the doctored content you're promoting?

I don't see anything wrong there. You expressed your opinion and the members expressed theirs with colorful internet points... Unless a post (or multiple posts in the same thread) gets troll ratings, mods shouldn't take any action at all imo. This falls well within the realms of freedom of speech. Yes, the Cantina is more of a ST and OT leaning society, you have to deal with it.
I criticised TFA many times here though, and didn't get any dislikes for it. Why? Because my goal was to raise rather objective criticism and not hate spewing. This is from your comment for intance: "TFA tossed all of that to the garbage just to do it's own thing and give us new characters and Disney's new view of things."
I'm sorry, but we don't even know yet what happened to Luke, why is he in exile etc. Obviously if you won't going to like TLJ's explanation you'll be more than welcome to criticise it, but speculative hate spewing like this might get you conflicting internet points...

Besides, to answer that proposition: I'd like to remind you to one of the writers behind TFA, namely Lawrence Kasdan. We can fairly declare that he was the 2nd most important person behind the creation of Luke's character. I wouldn't just dismiss his vision because it's not the one you expected (which is kind of ironic, considering the ever recurring mantra of TFA being a rehash).

In the last 2 years I've been here (yes, I've been lurking for a half year ) the moderation was exceptionally well done. I reported two comments and action was taken immidiately. I like the fact that mods are rather freedom of speech advocates, and don't take action unless it's really necessary. It would be a real shame if this forum would turn into something like the TFN boards, where mods censor out every comment they dislike, making the place impossible to function as a forum.
