If The Mandalorian is Successful, Do you think this will open the door to The Old Republic?

If The Mandalorian is a wild success, will we see the Mandalorian Wars or TOR content?

If people really get behind The Mandalorian and it is a wild success for the streaming service, do you think we could see Mandalorian culture make more appearances in Star Wars, specifically a look at the Old Republic era and the Mandalorian Wars? It would certainly be interesting, but Lucasfilm may be a bit cautious to do this to keep Star Wars from becoming too focused on Mandalorians. I believe this show takes place during the sequel era and with Disney/Lucasfilm alternating between sequel era and OT era in their movies/TV shows (Episode 7, RO, Episode 8, Solo, Resistance) it could be a good way for them to open up the exploration of a new era that isn't connected to the PT, OT, or ST.

I think it's way too early in the game for me to make a prediction. I think once they announce Rian's trilogy and Game of Thrones directors movie, we may have a better idea where Lucasfilm is heading. I wouldn't mind seeing an coruscant underworld type of show. I really would love seeing a Breaking Bad type of SW show but I doubt that will happen.

I would love an Easter egg reference to how Mandalore the Ultimate fell to the Jedi Revan. That is super fan service but I would appreciate it none the less.

I mean based on the recent Instagram posts it doesn't appear that they are afraid of going deep for Easter eggs.

it saddens me to say this because kotor and swtor are the best things to ever be conceived. but most star wars fans hate these to because of the whole palatine is the most powerful sith thing

Most Star Wars fans hate KotOR? Where did you get that? Both games are almost worshiped in the fandom. Now granted, SWTOR lost me a couple of years ago and I was never a fan of Vitiate for being so goddamn generic evil after being hyped ad infinitum, but I think you can still find fans of the game.

Disney is probably just more interested in fleshing out the present time stuff because with the continuity restart, everything is fair game again and just like with Legends it makes sense to start with the stuff that's closer to what you know. Before we had the Old Republic, we had Thrawn.

I don't know if I agree with the idea that most fans hate kotor. I mean Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes recently brought in most of the OG Kotor characters in the game and a light side Revan and a lot of people who play that game lost their collective minds when it was all announced. Now given, nothing in the game is considered canon it is still nice to see a Lucasfilm property still acknowledge that time era and that is what makes me think we may, at some point, see some sort of kotor era content reintroduced into canon (possibly via books or comics first before diving into TV/Movie content).

I don't think anything will cause LFL to detach themselves from exhausting the OT era aesthetics and trappings long enough to explore another era. I literally think the Story Group would have an aneurism if they had a piece of spin-off media that DIDN'T feature Stormtroopers, Rebels, X-Wings, TIEs or any other OT imagery, since that seems to be their only focus when it comes to depicting the Star Wars universe.

I'm assuming the Benioff and Weiss series is going to be based in the Old Republic around that era, so i dont think the Mandalorian will have much effect on that either way.

If we are pitching TV shows, how about:
    • A Coruscant Underworld crime thriller (True Detective or The Shield)
    • Star Wars Soprano's (Hutts)
    • An episodic of Luke Skywalker's travels across the Galaxy after ROTJ influenced by Indiana Jones and Marco Polo where he's searching for artifacts and knowledge
    • A Star Trek style show about early Jedi or explorers charting the galaxy and exploring the systems and species that will form the Colonies or Wild Space
    • House of Cards-style political thriller set in the Sith Empire full of backstabbing and cutthroat struggles for power and ego
    • A show following Eli Vanto's time as attache to the Chiss Ascendency
    • Cheers adaptation set in a Coruscant bar frequented by the bureaucrats and underworld

I voted no because I don't think they will (at least not yet), but I'm not sure I'd want KOTOR in live action form. Live action for KOTOR would be incredibly expensive and I'd want it to be a long-running series. Animation might be easier to do that. But again, I'm not sure...
