    With the news of episode 8 casting a "new strong female lead that is Han Solo's daughter" it sounds like they could possibly be recasting Daisy Ridley as Rey. I know we don't know who Rey really is yet but what if THE character IS Han Solo's only daughter and maybe they were underwhelmed by Daisy Ridley's performance. Then again she is a very inexperienced actor. How would you feel if the role of Rey was recast? I know we have yet to see her performance in TFA but this is just from a fans perspective. How would you feel seeing another actor get the role of a major character like Rey?

    That's an ENORMOUS leap based on a rumor. If they were that unhappy with her performance, she wouldn't be the face of the new cast on media tours and events. I'm sure Daisy is wonderful in the film.

    I don't know, seems to me like all they've done for the past year is hype up how fantastic the new cast is. Could be something as simple as the rumour being off mark or Rey not actually being a Solo child. I definitely don't think it's a recast, seem to remember reading somewhere that she was signed on for VIII already!

    It would seem stupid to recast her before the film even comes out? what if she got recast and then the fans loved Daisy's Rey? That would be terrible. I don't think they could re-cast her without first releasing the film and hearing fan response. I know that Disney is running a tight machine as far as the churning out of SW films is concerned but even with the tight schedule I can't imagine this is a re-cast.

    Extremely unlikely. Daisy seems like a very strong lead (although i haven't seen any of her past performances)

    This is like when people started speculating that Keira Knightley was replacing Natalie Portman in Episode III because of how successful Pirates was. Utter nonsense.

    I take the fact that the new character is a "lead" with a grain of salt. Perhaps she'll have a Lando-sized role, but I can't see them expanding the trio into a quartet when Episode VII will only barely feature Poe.

    Theory 1: Rey is Han/Leia's daughter, the new girl is someone random (the Lando).
    Theory 2: Rey is Leia's daughter, the new girl is Han's (and if this is the case, she should be named Jaina or Ania or I will start protests).
    Theory 3: None of them are related to Han or Leia.

    I hope for Theory 1 over Theory 2, just because Han having another daughter (or actual daughter) would undermine whatever relationship he builds with Rey.
    I am 100% against Theory 3.

    If the rumor is true I think that new female lead will play Han's daughter (if Rey turns out to be Luke's daughter), or Luke's daughter (if Rey turns out to be Han's daughter).

    In other words I'm certain that Rey will not be replaced by "new lead".

    Considering Daisy and her double have been spotted for the VIII shoot, I really doubt she's getting replaced.
