..which would it be? PT, OT, or ST?

The PT - A period of war and uncertainty. A pair of manufactured armies.. Jedi versus Sith. The Jedi are plentiful and powerful, but do you agree with them? The separatists might not be the answer either. And droids... droids everywhere!

The OT - A period engulfed in tyranny. Emperor Palpatine rules with an iron fist, and alongside him his enforcer, Darth Vader. The Empire maintains a firm grip on the galaxy.... until a band of hero rebels emerge to challenge them. Who is this new rebel scum?? Can they be trusted?

The ST - A seemingly peaceful, yet paranoid, period suddenly thrust into chaos. The Republic reigns as the threat of the Empire is gone, but a new one emerges -- by destroying the galaxy's ruling governing power and numerous other planets with one super weapon. The First Order takes control of the galaxy with one fell swoop, and few heroes remain to challenge them. Will the heroes of old be able to defeat this new threat, or will new ones be born from the turmoil of a new war?

Make your choice and discuss below!

Keep in mind this is meant to discuss which era you would most want to be a part of and experience first-hand, and can be separate from your favorite film trilogy.

    Certainly not the OT.

The ST is a bit tricky, one frequent complaint about it that I actually do agree with is... we haven't really seen enough of the world. Do we really know what the state of the Galaxy is like?

I think I'm going to have to pick the PT by default.

I'd say that waking up every day in recent times isn't far off the 'seemingly peaceful, yet paranoid, period suddenly thrust into chaos' concept you mention - so ST is the one I'm living in!

That's my choice. I would feel much safer knowing there were hundreds of Jedi out there. Until, of course, there weren't...

my survival instincts have made me choose the PT.. there aren't any planet killing weapons around, so i should sleep soundly :D

ok.. death stars and a starkiller base are around the corner, but i technically don't know that. #ignorantbliss

that sealed the deal for me. droids rule :p

Dang, one of those three, huh? Otherwise, I’d pick whatever period was right before the PT. That seemed pretty nice, yeah? Nothing so bad as mild concern over trade tariffs or whatever.

I guess the question for me is more about where I’d want to be during those periods. An outer-rim wasteland would suck regardless of when you were. An opulent core world though would be rather pleasant despite the warring. Seems like most of the fighting of the OT was relegated to the outskirts of the galaxy. So, I guess, that would be my pick.

Have to go with the PT. Even though war is occurring throughout the galaxy, it at least seems like the only period of time where people were able to go about their lives, to a certain extent, without being under some form of tyrannical oppression or fearing their world may be blown up. Plus if your world does get pulled into the war, at least the Jedi and clones would be there to help defend it.

If it was whenever I would take Naboo anytime before TPM. :D But yeah, since the 3 trilogies are each centered around some sort of conflict I figured it was a fairly level playing field. Though the Super Weapons / Tyranny factors seem to be tilting the scales heavily right off the bat!

I would choose the PT, it has the most beautiful planets. But if we talk about security, I would take the ST. The FO is small and not really spreaded, at least for now.

I'd say the PT. The world of Episode 1 is so idyllic compared to anything else in the saga.

That being said, I'd do this with the knowledge that it wouldn't be long before a large war, a major shift in power, and overwhelming oppression. Maybe the ST would be a safer bet- at least places like Cantonica seem to be partially normal still, though I agree we simply don't know enough about the era yet.

The conflicts in ST and the Ot are basically the same and their scale is also similar, so your choice between these two is a matter of choice between an oppressive totalitarian regime or a state of anarchy. What I'd definitely not pick is the Prequel Era - Clone Wars were the biggest conflict in terms of scale and death toll out of all these three, so I'd keep myself out of these times. Sure, it didn't involve any Death Stars, but the sheer scale was far greater than the other two wars combined. So not PT.

i wouldn't want to live in the golden age before the collapse, nor under an oppressive regime.
i like chaos. it's my natural affinity, so i totally go with the ST. bring it on, you crazy FO peeps! : D

To me, it seems more like the difference between a repressive yet stable environment transitioning to a briefly chaotic, but ultimately freer society. Versus a peaceful and open environment transitioning to a chaotic and oppressive police state.

We don’t know what sort of ruling class the FO will be, but we do know it’s an invading army that’s there to conquer by force to impose "order". I’d certainly want no part of that.
That’s pretty much my sentiment. Although that trilogy does sport itself a full decade of ostensible peace before any of that happens. Hard to overlook.
Can’t say I can relate to that perspective in any way shape or form, but I gotta respect someone that knows what they want in life :)

may be less a matter of what i want than what i am comfortable dealing with.
i thrive in ambiguity and mess. i think i could do/be the most good in the ST. : D

Makes total sense why you are named after a trash compactor now.
    :D

Another thing I was trying to touch on was how uplifting and inspirational it would be to live in the hey-days of a living legend such as Luke Skywalker, after knowing nothing but oppression by the Empire. And then, in the ST, that hopelessness of (seemingly) not having him available this time around and having to wonder who, if anyone, would step up in his place.

Maybe this is a dumb question, but was the death toll really that bad for civilians/non-Clones? I mean, we definitely see stuff like Onderon where humans fight, but would it be fair to say the vast expanse of the conflict was just droids fighting clones?

Obviously that doesn't make people immune from the effects of war still, and we do see many planets that suffer from it. But we also see quite a bit of relative stability in the prequel era on many planets, too.
