    I already did name my daughter Leia- or as close as I could get without people rolling their eyes at me- Leah.
    But she knows who inspired her name, and loves it! Padme also is an real Indian name (it means "lotus flower"), I love that one, too. But SW Padme wasn't around when my daughter was born, so I didn't think of it.

    For boys, Han is not bad. I know people named Hans, so that's not too weird. Quite a few of the SW names seem Germanic or Scandinavian.
    Maybe Lars- he was a good man.

    I know! And Kanan sort of sounds like Canaan lol, which is too a Old Testament name.

    I recall when they used Rachel instead of Rey for the auditions for TFA, and the funny thing is that Rachel and Leah were sisters.

    Huh, great observation! Wonder if that was coincidence or what?
    The cool thing about SW names is that most of them are unusual, but not totally made up. They almost sound like normal names (Leia and Han) or they're rare names that are nevertheless recognizable- Ezra, Kanan, Poe, Padme- even Luke is an old-fashioned New Testament name. So one gets the feeling that these people are like us, but different. We can relate to them even though they're in a galaxy far, far away.

    I will say that I hope we end up knowing Rey and Finn's full names. Right now, they just don't have the cachet & evocative imagery that goes with a name like Wedge Antilles or Obi-Wan Kenobi. But I bet they end up with great names!

    I really wish they'd use some Native American names, I know lots of them. Skywalker is actually pretty close, it almost sounds like a Crow name, but it would be two words: Sky Walker. Like Real Bird or Many Deeds.

    I'd lie if I said that sometimes at mass I don't think of Skywalker when I read "gospel according to Luke" (shame on me). :p
