If you hated TFA, will you watch Episode VIII or not ?

I didn't hate TFA, however I did have some issues with it. I will see episode 8 but it won't be on opening day! Depending on what I read about it, I might wait until it's released on DVD!

I'm actually hopeful for VIII, because there are so many loose ends and unanswered questions in TFA, lol, the only way to go is up!

JJ has a certain style, and the script was rushed. I think this led to the shortcomings of TFA, which, for me, were all about the story and the plot. Though I know nothing about him, Rian Johnson has had much more time to think things through and so I'm optimistic VIII will be better.

Also, I'm just a SW fan. I love the other fans and the excitement over Star Wars, from the filming, to the new Star Wars Land at Disney, to the costume exhibit by The Smithsonian. I think the cosplayers are cool and the fan artists more artistic than I'll ever be. It's never been a better time to be a geek and SW fan. TFA was a much better movie than TPM, so my fangirlism will survive to fight another day.

Which leads into how many more bad Star Wars films will come out before fans totally abandon the franchise? And awful films like TFA stop earning mountains of undeserved cash?

Nothing lasts forever. Ever since 1983 Star Wars has been in a downtrend, and at some point it's going go over the cliff and fans are going to collectively say to hell with this series.

As far as myself, I came very, very close to not seeing TFA. After seeing the direction Disney is taking the series, I doubt I'll see Episode 8 which would be a first for any Star Wars film.

 

While I didn't hate TFA, I couldn't fully immerse myself in it like other Star Wars movies. I'll definitely go see 8, though. It's still Star Wars and I want to see the ST play out.

So much people make angry at Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

 

I don't know if that will ever be the case, look at some series like Transformers, they still make massive money, plus if they do get that bad they will just target them at younger and younger audiences that really don't put that much thought into it.

 

That's the difference between Disney and James Cameron, Cameron will not make the film until he thinks everything is perfect. He can spend years and years just for polishing the script.

Sorry, but the thread title makes it appear as if you just want to hear the opinions of haters. IMHO, to "hate" the film would have required way too much aniticipations and expectations, I didn't have those, thus I don't hate it and will be interested to see what VIII will deliver.

Already I'm rather curious about average audiences. Undoubtedly many were attracted because of the hype of a new Star wars film, but I'm curious how many of those will really want to watch VIII in May 2017 or rather another film playing then. IMHO, just because VIII will provide answers to some open questions in VII will not be that much of an interest to average audiences.

 

Come on. You are having way too much fun criticizing episode 7. Why stop there?

 

my initial rating of TFA has been downgraded upon seeing it a second time, but i'm still definitely up for watching Rouge One and VIII.

at this point they're really making Star Wars into its own sub-genre, hence anthology movies. the more they pump this blast out though, they might end up pigeonholing themselves.

although TFA was WAY better than anything Michael Bay is doing, it's on a similar safe, blockbuster level (but then again, it's always been that way).
