Sure in Episode IX. This is supposed to be a continuation of the Skywalker saga. Do your side adventures about characters no one cares about in a stand alone movie or this next non-Skywalker trilogy.

Snoke just coming from no where with no story is plain dumb. There was 6 movies explaining where he came from.

You can't say the Emperor had no story in the OT but he didn't need to because he was already there.

Why are you blaming Rose? Poe also recognized it wasn't worth it and ordered Finn to stop. Their original plan wasn't a Kamikaze mission. Once it became suicide, Poe realized the important thing was to survive. Even stopping the cannon was just delaying the inevitable. It became not worth it. The fact that you are having such a hard time understanding this, like Finn and Poe at first, is why this is a great and challenging film.

actually their subplot wouldn't have happened if holdo would've just been completely reasonable and told poe what the plan was.
Poe would've been like "oh.....OOoooohh, sorry ma'm. I'm...gonna go to my post." Instead she gets to pretend to be nonchalant. (you know, so we as an audience can suspect that she may be a FO sympathizer. Of course if you read princess of alderaan, there's no way you'd think that anyway.) Then through a pointless sub plot, DJ ends up in FO hands and gives them vital information on what the rebels are doing.

In TFA everyone of our characters knows of Snoke. So it would be silly for them to narrate out a history just so we could avoid having to read the inevitable comic books and tv shows.

Really I remember in 1999 this movie was the greatest thing since sliced bread.

Finn was willing to sacrifice himself in order to take out the cannon. It was funny that rose stops him, then harps about saving what you love, meanwhile the cannon is about to destroy what she loves. None of that mattered though because the point of it all was to force an unearned romance which would torch the possible romance between finn and rey.

    Says who?? You??

This right here is the biggest problem with most (not all) of the hate for TLJ.

It ain't your story to tell. And demanding that it be so, doesn't hold up as criticism in a debate. It saddens me to see the forums littered with this nonsense right now. For months I've been looking forward to intellectual and logical debates between both sides.

    Oh well.

Which perfectly excuses why he suddenly started acting like Mace in the PT for no reason at all, amirite?

Why do you think Poe also ordered Finn to stop his attack? The movie said like a dozen times - the resistance needs to survive. Stopping the cannon wouldn't have saved them. It was a delaying tactic, and not worth loosing Finn over. He has a lot of inside knowledge of the first order that the resistance needs.

Are we talking about 1999 or 2017? I had a friend who saw TPM 8 times, my brother saw it 6 times, as I only saw it twice.

I remember fans rushed out to grab the VHS in April 2000 and wrote petitions to get in on DVD. Yes there were fans that hated it in 1999 but there were a lot of fans like my friend and brother who blindly loved it.

Now if you ask them in 2017, they don’t like the movie as it hasn’t aged well. I suspect the same thing to happen with TLJ as many friends on here I talk really like but.....,see a lot of flaws. Those flaws won’t go away on repeat viewings but the newness will go away through time and that’s what happened with TPM and the PT.

It's a good thing movie critic sites keep track of it.
    Rotten tomatoes:
    TPM: 55% (https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/star_wars_episode_i_the_phantom_menace)
    TLJ: 93% (https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/star_wars_the_last_jedi)

    Metacritic:
    TPM: 51 (http://www.metacritic.com/movie/star-wars-episode-i---the-phantom-menace)
    TLJ: 86 (http://www.metacritic.com/movie/star-wars-episode-viii---the-last-jedi)

And just to be clear: I have no problem with diverging opinions. I totally get why some folks disliked TLJ. But let's at least keep the facts straight :)

they made it pretty clear that the blast door would be destroyed by the canon. Maybe they didn't feel it was worth losing finn over (like, who's gonna mop their floors with him out of the picture.) , but he was finally about to have a real character moment. I thought it was a funny shot with her dialogue.

You may not like that this didn't turn into a fan service event like TFA, but it's objectivity far from mindless. It's the most coherent story of them all, with everything very deliberate. It's the anti TFA.

He had his moment, and lived. Best of both worlds. He showed he was heroic, as did Rose.

Says Kathy Kennedy as that was the point of the standalone movies and this new Trilogy by RJ. Those movies give them the freedom to tell other stories but 7,8,9 are apart of 1,2,3,4,5,6 and that is the Skywalker Saga.

If they wanted 7,8,9 to be random characters then they wouldn’t have brought back Han, Luke, Leia and had Han/Leia’s offspring be the main villain after Snoke.

Nobody is arguing that RJ can’t tell his story and implement his style of directing as I welcome that. But if you’re telling me I should be excited to watch TLJ again where Finn/Rose/Poe/Leia/Hux get more screen time then Rey/Luke/Kylo/Snoke, then this movie wasn’t for me. I didn’t wait 2 years to see Finn/Rose Casino part be a main storyline.

To everyone who's upset about TLJ, are you still going to see Episode 9?

-So far, we've had two ST films. Both have been Skywalker-centric.

-Episode IX is not out yet.

-The creative process is akin to a living/breathing organism that changes and evolves sometimes during the process. Let it.
