It seems to be fairly certain that there are goign to be imperial force users in the film that are neithersith or jedi. What do you think they should be called? Should they be called inquisitors like they are in Rebels, should they be a canon version of the Imperial Knights, maybe simply called Dark Acolytes like many non-sith Dark jedi are called in the EU.

I would lean towards them being Imperial Knights, being an organization reformed from the various dark side servants of Palpatine brought together to form a single coherent force using organization (including the Inquistors).

Depending on how they are done, they might be called a mistake lol

    But we'll see.

A side note, I have sincere doubts they will be called anything in the movie and simply be part of the imperial forces. That they will be named after the film in some extraneous material or in the second film in the trilogy.

I'm thinking they will be called Inquisitiors but they will have the same attributes as the Imperial Knights.

Agreed. Mostly because it will be a relatable term with Rebels and though I don't think Rebels will connect much with the ST,the younger fan base can easily pick up on inquisitor because of Rebels. Imperial knight could get kind of confusing for casual viewers. "wait the Jedi are on the Imperial side?" "no? They hunt the Jedi? Why are they knights then?" etc.

they seem to be a definitive... average. One ofthe things that bothered me about the imperial force users in the EU is how scattered and random they were, from the rumors and concept arts seen it seems to me that they have taken a bit of inspiration from all the various imperial force using groups and ideas.

Tehy seem a split down the middle between Imperial Knights and Inquisitors... in a sense.

But I have to say, I am becoming more and more convinced that a lot about this movie was inspired by the Legacy comic series, or at the very least they used the legacy comics to explore ideas they wanted to use for future films... andthe Imperial Knights were probably one of the most well recieved aspects of the legacy series.

I'm voting "Imperial Knights" just because it sounds the cleanest and the best... but at the same time, I'm thinking could it not be possible to have all three? Each having different roles of course.

Possible, but like I said one of my issues with Imperial force users from the EU is how random scattered and confusing it was.

I would havethe Imperial Knights be the factor of force users with Dark Acolytes referring to recruits and inquisitors as a specific type of Imperial Knight.... maybe, but I would hate it if things got as messy as they got in the original EU

Inquisitors is a more clearly defined title. It sounds evil...

That idea just sounds messy IHMO. One name, all the jobs. It makes things less confusing. We already have Inquisitors so use that.

Yes, I never actually bothered with that portion of the EU because it ended up being so convoluted everywhere. But I was thinking something along the lines of the being in the same arm or branch of Imperial service, and perhaps it being ranks or slightly different but similar roles.

yeah, more than one of these groups could definitely make an appearance. Acolytes could be Kylo Ren's group and Inquisitors the Empire's group. i agree with @sbs87 that knights should be Jedi only. throwing around the title may get a bit confusing for some.

MAybe they were originally Inquisitors, and they transitioned into being Imperial Knights post-endor during the empires efforts to re-brand itself.

    Just spinning ideas.

Ah, but in a world in conflict and both the Republic and Empire possibly vying for worlds, a little confusion to the general public as to who those "good knights who stand up for the ideals of what is good" are could be beneficial to the Empire. ;)

(and yes I know you meant us :p)

    other,
because why they have to be evil?
    What about a grey area?
Just a force user or freelancer working for the crippled empire.
The title Knight should be reserved for the Jedi.

Imperial knights arent evil, in fact one of their primary purposes is to kill the Emperor in the event that he falls to the Dark Side. I am starting to agree that the title of knight should be reserved for Jedi, but then what ranks should Sith have? Or this imperial force of force users.

Maybe the Sith equivelent of Knight should be Marauder :| that feels right for some reason

    Correct.

Marauder sounds evil, I would like to see a grey area.
What about Imperial Protector or Paladin?

I think for inquisitors titles should be very military, maybe for their knight equivelent "Agent" would sound right, leaders could be "Taskmasters"

But Protector or Paladin both sound good for inquisitors/non-sith imperial force users.

I have to agree with you, good thread so far and contribution in my opinion.
The people who are now in control of the crippled empire or just work for them don't consider themself as evil.
I would like it to see it that way, sure we know that most of them are fanatics who are working for a former fascist government.
But who knows, maybe there are some new allies in the empire and some new enemies at the rebels. (a possible vice versa movement)
