You mean sort of the way Stallone made Rocky Balboa to make up for the disaster that was Rocky 5? Yeah, I could definitely see that.

I read the Darabont script for Indy 4 a couple years ago, and it is MUCH better than Lucas' rewrite. No kid, far less eye-rolling cheese, and perhaps most importantly, Marion was actually given something to DO other than just to give plot exposition and drive a duck.

I finally saw Guardians of the Galaxy a week or so ago, and I had a blast. Great movie, great cast, great new film world to run around in. I'm very much looking forward to more GotG flicks.

That said, I just don't see Chris Pratt as Indy. I liked him in GotG, but to me he's got a lot of that vibe of the back-slapping cheeser from the sales department at work. And that's not Indy.

The problem is, Harrison Ford is more of an old-school "man's man" type of actor, like Steve McQueen, Robert Mitchum, etc. And there aren't nearly as many of those in Hollywood anymore. Pratt, like a lot of modern actors, is a lot more of that "former frat boy" type that we see so much of in movies these days. And that's fine for a lot of types of roles. Indiana Jones, not so much IMHO.

I'm really not crazy about the idea of recasting Indy at all, to be honest. I know they're going to do it, and they'll probably end up making a lot more Indiana Jones movies without Harrison Ford than were ever made with him. But I just don't see them doing justice to the series in the long run. Maybe I'll be proven wrong, but I just don't see it.

Anyone else think Karl Urban could pull it off? He's fantastic as Bones in Star Trek and has both the charisma and sarcastic sense of humor Ford possesses.

I actually do think that Urban is a bit closer to the right type for the Indy role than most of the names that have been bandied about.

Still not sold on the whole idea of recasting Indy, but were Urban's name to be announced as the final choice, I suspect I might cringe just a wee bit less violently than with a lot of the other potential choices.

So will it be a reboot, or are they doing the Bond thing? And I agree, Urban would be the best, out of the names I've heard so far.

I'm still not sure if it's a reboot, if it's just a continuation of the series with a new actor (Bond style) or if anything is even really happening with the Indy franchise at all.

I mean, we've been hearing rumors like this ever since Crystal Skull came out, haven't we? God knows where the solid ground is under all of this.

I have to wonder if it'll be a co-production between Disney and Paramount or something.

That probably could be the case.

I think Pratt would be a great choice

I also would like the have Shai back as well

I think Pratt would likely replace Shia. Same character, new actor. Shia seems to be into "artsy" stuff now, and he doesn't really seem to be interested in blockbuster films.

I feel like Pratt has a kind of charisma to lead action-y movies that Shia lacks (with nothing against Shia - having seen some of his non-mainstream work, he's excellent). I see no reason to "get rid of" the character of Mutt Williams when it seems like he'd still work as the successor to Indy all the same.

No Re-cast on Jones? I like it. If true.

I truly hope Indy 5 happens. I've loved all four Indy movies up to this point, especially Raider of the Lost Ark and Last Crusade.
