SPECULATION Inspiration for Snoke, Kylo, and Rey?

    This might just be me looking into things far too much but being a fan of KOTOR I saw some similarities with The Force Awakens.

    Although Revan was originally the master and Malak the apprentice, they do share aesthetic similarities with Kylo and Snoke.

    This one is even more interesting because Bastila uses a double-bladed lightsaber and we know Rey is skilled in the use of a Bo Staff. Additionally, in KOTOR Malak tortures Bastila while strapped to a table similar to Kylo and Rey in TFA.

    Thoughts? This might have been posted before but I couldn't find a thread similar to it.

    I used to think they took the Bastila and Revan story from KOTOR for Rey and Ben Solo, and that Kylo Ren loves Rey and she brings him back to the light but now meh.

    They took some visual influence from KOTOR that's true. And it is AWESOME! I also believe that like Bastilla, Rey will turn dark, and Kylo Ren, like Revan, will turn to the light and help redeem her.

    That would be very interesting. John Boyega has already said that Episode VIII is much darker and considering that VII was already pretty dark maybe that could be where the story is headed.

    I assume he's referring to the fact that they can't fall in love the same way as Bastila and Revan because they're probably related; however, Rey could still love Kylo in a non-romantic way if he is a cousin or sibling.

    I'm not sure what inspired them when they created Rey, but I like the idea of B-Shan.

    Cool concept and sketch! Who made it?

    Here's some made-up dialogue for that image, to parallel Luke and Yoda's similar training scene in The Empire Strikes Back...

    Snoke: Yessss, rush! Yes, your strength flows from the Dark Side. But beware of the Light. Compassion, selflessness, sentiment; the Light side of the Force are they. Slowly they flow, quick to abandon you in a fight. If once you end down the Light path, forever will it weaken your destiny, saturate you it will, as it did Yoda's apprentice.

    Kylo: Luke... Is the Light side stronger?

    Snoke: No, no, no. Slower, more difficult, more ungainly.

    Kylo: But how am I to know the bad side from the good?

    Snoke: You will know... when you are angered, at war, aggressive. You use the Force for passion and attack, NEVER for defense.
