Can't say I loved TFA but I respect your opinion. Totally with you on the other two points. For me I didn't hate TFA. I had problems with it but I could enjoy it on some level. At least I could sense JJ had some respect for what came before. I certainly never thought I would be saying I disliked Last Jedi more than TFA but there we have it. Thank you for sharing that, I'm starting to feel less of a lone voice on this thread now.

TFA is not a great movie, but it was enjoyable and a good setup for the new Trilogy. RJ pretty much disregarded TFA and made his own movie and now the Trilogy can’t be salvaged. JJ and RJ were never on the same page so there is no narrative flow to this Trilogy as the character arcs are all over the place.

I will see Episode 9 as I have seen the first two, but after that I’m probably done unless things really turn around...I will not be going back to see TLJ in the theatre again.

A New Hope - Saw once in the theater when I was 4 years old in 1977 (and would've seen it a hundred times if parents had taken me)

Empire - Again, saw once in 1980 and wish I could've seen it more.

Jedi - Saw 3 times in theater

TPM - Saw 6 times in theater (which is more than I really wanted, but I kept wanting it to grow on me. It actually did grow on me on home video, eventually)

AOTC - saw twice in theater. It never grew on me. Least favorite of the series.

ROTS - saw 4 or 5 times in theater. Loved it.

TFA - 6 times in theater. Loved it.

Rogue One - 2 or 3 times in theater. Loved it (best of Disney era films)

TLJ - Twice in theater. Likely once more next week. It took a second viewing to get over the shock, but now I love it.

Will definitely see Solo, Episode 9 and Kenobi in the theater. After that, I'm not sure if I'm interested in movies that are totally removed from the timeline and characters we've grown up with. I'm sure curiousity will get me into the theater at least once for the post-skywalker era, but I don't really mind if SW ends after Episode 9. Hopefully I'll be pleasantly surprised.

Long story short, Disney will get money from me at least 4 more times, no matter what.

PS - saw all the special editions in the theater at least twice each.

Well, I wasn't yet around for that dark age, but mine was after ROTS came out and it seemed like that was the last SW movie ever. Combined with the horrible way Lucasarts handled many SW games, I was very upset with the direction it was going in, and was very happy when Disney took over.I am very pleased with what we're getting now and I plan to see TLJ a few more times after the new year.
I still don't get the hate for it or TFA, but I still enjoy both movies all the same.

Going to see the german version after christmas.
Then at least once more in english with my edgy cousin.
Probably one more time with the girlfriend after.
Maybe I'll sneak once more on my own to ugly cry like nobodies watching.

    Oh btw.
Hows the 3D? I'm not planning on seeing it in cubed but hows the conversion?

As much as I loathe (and that’s saying it lightly) TLJ, I will always be a Star Wars fan. Regardless of whoever is control, I will continue to watch the movies and buy merchandise as I have for the past 40 years. Star Wars is as much a part of me as me being a Veterinarian. It’s helped mold me into the person I am today. Do I wish TLJ was a better movie??? Of course I do. It is what it is, and now it’s time to move on. I’m praying that JJ can write a compelling story and try to fix the issues that I had with this film. Even if he doesn’t, Star Wars will always be something I can turn to in good times and in bad. TLJ will just be a movie that I don’t view very often much like TPM (which is weird because I enjoyed TPM in the theaters. Maybe, because it was a new Star Wars movie and I was longing for one so I over looked the extreme child tones and silliness of the movie). Anyway, good or bad, I will continue to spend my money on the franchise, but in the future when I watch something that doesn’t sit right with me, I just won’t spend my money at the theater over and over again.

As much as I admire your commitment for Star Wars I can't help but feel that this shouldn't be like this. Why should we be made to endure Star Wars now when every cinema/theatre experience should be pure gold? Well of course that is a very idealistic notion and not everyone is going to agree on what makes a great Star Wars movie blah blah blah... except that didn't seem to be a problem for fans when Ep IV, V & VI came out (I know there was a mumur of discontent especially when ROJ came out) The great divide really started with the prequels and it's never improved since then (the divide I mean). It would seem that this is more of a generational problem or positive (depending on your persuasion) as well as some fans that simply love everything Star Wars. Despite being 40 years old (which I know is ancient for our much younger fellow Star Wars fans) within the Star Wars community, I feel like the old Grandpa who no longer recognizes his hometown. It would seem by some that I should get with the times and not limit myself to seeing Star Wars as only one way, the old way. It's time to move on they say, let the past die, embrace the radically new and unrecognizable version of Star Wars. Well apart from not liking it as a Star Wars movie I can't even say I like it as a film fullstop. To me there is nothing endearing about it as a movie, let alone a Star Wars movie. So I have a really big problem with TLJ as a movie lover let alone as a lover of Star Wars. I will get to my main point, bear with me on this. My point is when people flat out hate TLJ (I know we are a minority) I think even the people that love it should take the time to appreciate why and not dismiss us as old fuddy duddies who just enjoy putting a downer on it. We have very good reasons why we have a problem with it and I would say we have some insight into why Disney might be taking us down a very dark path in terms of missing the point or essence about Star Wars. Instead of Judging us, really listen to why we hate it so much and understand that for people who grew up with Star Wars, when it all started, how upsetting is for us to see Star Wars become something else, something alien. That's straight up what is happening. Disney is disrespectfully alienating some of it's oldest and wisest fans and I can't see how even the staunchest fans Of Rian Johnson's TLJ can fail to see how that just isn't right.

Believe me this film is masterpiece.Even more, a Great work of Art.

This however brings consequences, because of this film is hard to comprehend or accept for many.

I am against people throwing dislikes like that (dislikes you got in OP), becuse its pointles.

This film is divisive, it must be as any great Work of Art.

This film is a Great Work of Art, certified by me.

I hated it first time, was undecided second time, and it blown me away at 3rd watch...it blown me even on Leia's flight trough space..yes, most strange scene is absolute act of genius...(I explain it elswhere).

Why is it a great work of art? I don't need a full explanation but a couple of examples should suffice.

I love the character who adds the rating clouded to virtually every negative regarding TLJ. Do you know what clouded means? It doesn't mean you think it's wrong. It means it wasn't clear
Ok I'll ask this in a different way. Why do you think this is a Great Work of Art? Can you give two reasons?

It's Star Wars, I'm sure we'll all pay to see the next one. I do agree that Kathleen Kennedy is perhaps not the best influence on this franchise at the moment as I think there's some odd directions and agendas she seems to be pushing these movies towards. Regardless, it'll be interesting to see what J.J. does with the final episode and I'm sure I'll be there to see if he can salvage a good ending to the trilogy. I personally think he will, and I expect TLJ to go down at the weakest of the 3 in the long term.

Its difficult to explain now just like Luke explaining to Rey by clasping her right hand on that stone.

Film is destined not to be perfectly accepted by many, now. Over the time it will be.Its not made as primarily money maker,Disney wants Money maker, but its primary a Rian Johnson signature as an artist, that would be valued over time, like for instance Odyssey 2001.

In this moment it is your perception, I respect that.

Besides, I belive majority of those who praise film (and give you negatives, showing by this uncertainty) also don't understand it fully.

After watching TLJ, it’s blatantly obvious that there is no such “brain-trust” involved in keeping SW on the rails.

I will wait for the 'user' reviews for SW 9 and make a decision if I will go and see it.

Of course it is going to be interesting to see how JJA deals with the mess left behind by Rian porg Johnson. That alone will get most people to go and see it.

One thing is for sure I am not sitting through 2.5 hrs of TLJ again.

Give the movie a second chance. I was taken aback the first time too. I have now seen TLJ three times and I am liking it more and more. Some things are still jarring (the humor, floating Leia) and other things are still weak (Finn and Rose, Holdo not telling Poe the plan), but the movie is not another retread. It takes chances. Whereas TFA was competently made movie with several interesting new characters but a rather middling plot, TLJ is unlike any other SW movie.

I think the dissapointed fans should give IX a chance too. JJ is good at reminding people why they love movies. Rather than dwelling on something you hate, try to look forward to something that can be fun.

For me, it's probably not going to top TLJ, because I love that movie to death. But I get that it's a bummer to get dissapointed.
