Every now and then I realize something about Star Wars that isn't necessarily significant, just interesting. Here's two that came to me recently:

    1. In all of the Star Wars movies (not TV shows or anything), no two lightsabers are ever used against each other in more than one movie. If it weren't for Qui Gon fighting Maul twice in TPM, I could have said, "In all of the Star Wars movies (not TV shows or anything), no two lightsabers are ever used against each other more than once".

Before anyone reminds me that Anakin and Obi Wan fought Count Dooku twice, they were using borrowed lightsabers in Attack of the Clones since they had both lost theirs prior to the fight.

    2. In the original three Star Wars movies, Luke Skywalker's lightsaber is ignited in a non-combat situation in each movie.

Star Wars (Later renamed Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope): Luke ignites his lightsaber when it is given to him, just to play with it.

The Empire Strikes Back: Han Solo ignites Luke's lightsaber to cut open the dead tauntaun.

Return of the Jedi: Darth Vader ignites Luke's lightsaber to....compliment him, I guess? And probably to intimidate him a little.

Anyone else have any weird facts?

Vader didn't tun on Luke's lightsaber in order to compliment it actually. He turned in on as part of his inspection of the light saber (can't be too careful if it had been rigged with a high explosive of some kind that could potentially detonate near the emperor). Being impressed by Luke's saber during it's inspection lead to the compliment, not the desire to compliment leading to the inspection.

I hadn't considered it an actual inspection, although now it makes sense, but I think there was supposed to be at least a little intimidation in that scene. I thought Luke even made a concerned look when he heard it ignite.

    I've got a few:
    1) 8 of the 9 "Saga" films' titles contain the word "the" in some way
    2) 5 of the 9 "Saga" films have titles that begin with a capitalized version of that word, and so their official abbreviations contain the letter "T"
    3) 5 of the 9 Saga films' official abbreviations consist of four letters, and 4 consist of 3 letters

Everyone already know's that, but its a cool fact. The most iconic saber in the SW saga its in reality a flash of al old camera:

I actually have one of these! Well, the flash post, not the camera. As a teenager I once tried to make my own lightsaber hilt in my basement using a bicycle seat post, a black tube and some odds and ends. I never finished it. Ten years later I was cleaning the basement and went through some boxes. My father was into photography and had inherited some equipment from his uncle, who was also into it. I look in the box and see Anakin's lightsaber, five feet away from where I tried to build my own lightsaber. Wish I knew it at the time. :)

Its probably common knowledge but when I saw the making of documentary and saw that the backgrounds in some the scenes in TOS
where actually paintings I was fascinated. I never realized that.

It added to my appreciation of the original films the way they where originally presented before Lucas edited them with CGI effects.

I used to have copies of them on DVD that got lost and can't find them anywhere.
