Is anyone more excited for a Solo sequel than Episode 9?

As much as I would love a Solo sequel, I don't think it is going to happen. I do think we will see young Han again and I would love to see a movie or TV series that focuses on the underworld side of Star Wars (like Boba, Bossk, etc...). I think either a TV series or a movie that focuses on an ensemble of underworld characters would fare much better than one that focuses on just Boba. Honestly they could even do a TV series where they focus on a character like Boba or Bossk for several episodes (really develop their backstory, rise to notoriety, and motivations) and then have other large episode arcs that have various characters working together. Sort of like a dual timeline idea where backstory episodes take place in the past and then have several episodes that flash ahead to when the characters are more established in the Star Wars timeline.

I like the idea of an underground saga. A war amongst the crime syndicates would be a great basis for it and it would be a great follow up to Solo. I don't think they should make them character based though. Like it shouldn't be Solo 2 or the Boba Feet movie or the Maul movie. I think that whole marketing approach is part of the problem. No more origin or singular character stories. Focus on a larger story/saga and allow for many great characters to appear throughout it.

They painted themselves into a bit of a corner with this one - if they were planning on bringing Maul back to the big screen, they should not have killed him in Rebels. (I understand that they may not have known at the time, but I'm saying they could have planned better.)

It might have been cool to follow up Solo with an Obi-Wan movie that ends with an epic duel between Obi-Wan and Maul - but now, neither of those characters can die and the audience knows it.

I'm not expecting a theatrical release though they could use Maul in other standoffs (Boba Fett, etc.). I'm clinging to hope that they make a Solo sequel mini-series or streaming release etc. Most of the people I know really liked the movie. I think there were a variety of reasons for its downfall (and of course they had to double the budget for all the problems).

I know there will never be a sequel to "SOLO". But honestly, I find the idea more appealing than "EPISODE IX".

I am excited for any well crafted Star Wars film. Solo qualifies as such, as it is a great Star Wars film. Given its financial performance it doesn't look like there will be a Solo sequel, even though (given its quality) there absolutely should be a sequel.

Yes!!! I really liked SOLO. The only thing I would change in SOLO would be to make Jabba the cameo instead of Darth Maul.

But yes, I would go see another Prequel or sequel to SOLO, or any stand-alone movie ahead of Episode IX. The Last Jedi just killed that for me.

Actually, I think I am right now. Granted, it'll probably switch whenever the Episode IX teaser drops. But for now, yup!

Not to hate on Episode IX, but I am much more intrigued in another spinoff than episode IX. When I walked out of the theater from watching Solo, my reaction was something I have never felt since Disney bought Lucasfilm: “they can take this franchise anywhere. Anything is possible.”
While I loved TLJ, I did get a sense that Disney is keeping the ST in the realm of familiar. This “familiar” feeling increased today when I read that it is very likely Billy Dee Williams will reprise his role as Lando. There is a big difference between the young Solo movie and the ST. In Solo, we saw a side of Solo that was quite different from Harrison Ford’s (Alden Einrich came off as an ‘optimist’ inlove with a non-Leia gal, etc,) but the ST Han was pretty close to a OT Han.

I for sure want both of these films, but I don't think it's likely we will get a second Solo film anytime soon. It's really unfortunate what happened with the box office considering Solo opened the doors for so many new stories.

    2 disparate thoughts:

    1. The appearance of Maul in the Solo movie was a validation of 'alternate media canon' storylines. On this website or forum or whatever, we knew what happened to Maul- the average fan didn't and now a new world of storyline has been presented to them. "yes, Rebels is canon. catch up."

    2. TLJ reminds me of the Percy Jackson movie. The book series (1-5 IIRC) was a well constructed arc. The first movie short circuited the 1st movie with the end of the 5th movie and left the story in a corner. (no flames if I have this completely wrong. I was watching it with my kids and my daughter was outraged by the PJ movie.)

I'm going to say no for this reason. As much as I've liked the new films, I have things I'm concerned about, really would like to finish off the trilogy to try and understand it all. With Solo, while it left room for a sequel, it did feel pretty complete as a movie. It would be cool to see more but definitely going to lean toward episode IX at this time.

I personally enjoyed the fact that TLJ tossed JJ's Mysery Box out the airlock and I'm way more interested in the outcome of the trilogy now. I would have loved to see another Han Solo movie just not the sequel they were trying to set up.

Despite my disapppointment with TLJ I'm really excited for both.

Kinda can't see Becket in a sequel. He demised, and all.

I'd LOVE LOVE LOVE to see a Solo sequel. I thought it was set up really well, but it won't happen.

Anyhow, they quit requesting my input after the midichlorian debacle years ago.

I definitely agree with you on the aspect of TLJ just wrapping up mostly. In my opinion, they could've made that sooooo much better than what it was. Solo gave us a GREAT story and left us kind of hanging on the edge of a cliff, which was probably their plan. I would love to see a sequel to Solo!

I'm in the same boat. I was *beyond* excited for what Disney was going to do with the franchise, but they've ruined it. TLJ killed whatever "hope" I had for the property, and they paid for it with lackluster receipts for Solo. If this movie was released before TLJ I think a sequel would be possible. Before TLJ I didn't think it was possible to sink that much money into a movie and have it come across as being worse than the prequels. It was a good story, sure, but they did a horrible job of telling it to the audience.

I really want a Solo sequel, more than Rians new trilogy (I liked TLJ).
Would love to see Hans first encounter with Jabba, and his first visit to the Cantina
