This is putting on my tinfoil hat and diving deep, DEEP into the Mystery Box!

Let's say we're incredibly paranoid AND we believe JJ can pull off ANYTHING he wants.

Check out this video from StarWars.com - this is the creation of an actual, movie-ready R2-D2 quality Chopper droid:

Supposedly they spent 86 days (EIGHTY SIX WORKING DAYS!) building this prop as a promotional tool for Star Wars: Rebels.

That's a lot of effort put in for a marketing prop.

What if - and I don't know if I believe this - what if - they actually built this because he's IN Episode 7?!?!?

    Flame on!

It would be a big waste if they don't use him. If they do I guess it would be a cameo or something.

I'm not sure. Maybe somewhere in the background? This prop Chopper, while it's pretty amazing itself, was made with a very cartoon-y aesthetic in mind. When the new Chopper and R2D2 were rolling besides each other it was very apparent that their finish clashes visually.

I like this idea. I would love to see Chopper somwhere in Episode VII if not somewhere in the ST.

A waste of some people's effort.

While as an artist I agree with you there, but building time invested props to cover every minimal marketing corner, is very common in pop culture these days.

Chopper is better suited on Rebels.

No, he was in Rogue One, but not TFA. (Or perhaps he was - asleep under a tarp next to R2? Grr)

    It couldn't fit both.
