SPECULATION Is Leia Going to Be Killed in TLJ?

KK did not say she would be in 9. Todd Fisher, Carrie's brother said that. EP9 hasn't been filmed and just recently said the script was finished.

It's quite a mystery on what happens to her in 8. Maybe nothing happens and they explain in the crawl for 9. But she won't be in EP9 at all.

 

It's hard to tell. "Always in motion is the future."
Maybe they continue Leia's story off-screen.

 

If TLJ is going to mirror ESB then maybe Leia is put into carbon freeze near the end of the film.

 

Probably they will destroy another planet with Leia on it.

 

The original Last Jedi rumor was that Leia was severely injured at the start of the film. It's possible that the person was mistaken and that happens at the end of the film.

My original gut feeling is they would kill off each of the Big 3 in 7, 8, and 9 to give that dramatic punch to each movie:

Episode 7: Han dies
Episode 8: Leia dies
Episode 9: Luke dies

Remember EVERY major human character in SW dies in the next Trilogy.

 

I suspect Luke survives. However if the Jedi do end (I suspect this is a misdirection) he'll be off... If the Jedi are to rebuild they need the wise old Jedi around for future movies.

 

Well, Padme dies in ROTS, Qui-Gon died in TPM, Shmi dies in AOTC, and Windu dies in ROTS.



If your point is about Anakin, Palpatine, and Kenobi and how that could be echoed in ST with Han, Leia, and Luke....it certainly is an interesting pattern I hadn't considered.

Those previous three could be considered the "Big three" of the PT...

I could see that, but Yoda isn't human I think you have to concede he's a major character.

Yes, I was more talking about no major character ever survives the next Trilogy in SW so nobody should be shocked if Luke and Leia die. This is the only movie franchise that kills off Major Major characters in each Trilogy and it still stays popular and keeps telling a new story that is interesting. It's Game of Thrones in Space!

 

I wondered about this. It seems pretty late in the game to alter the story to reflect Leia getting killed, don't you think? I think it would seriously affect the tone of the movie. But it seems to be the most logical thing to do. What's the alternative? Kill off Leia between TLJ and Ep. 9? It'll be interesting to see how this pans out.

 

The question should be will she die in Episode 8.

 

That's just ridiculous and unfair to do that...something they should have thought about was what happened with Paul Walker in FF...but if I had to guess, she will ram her ship into snoke's SSD or something like that to sacrifice herself with her last line being, "May the Force be With You"

 

They better not kill Leia. It's possible that was always the plan or VIII, but that is honestly the last thing I want to see.

I would much prefer her to be an off-screen presence in IX, playing some sort of role in Ben Solo's (presumed) redemption. Even though I don't think Star Wars needs another absent maternal figure, but there's not much you can do now that Carrie is no longer with us.

To be honest, I was fine with them using stock footage of Carrie for a brief appearance in IX, welcoming Ben home or something like that. And her family was clearly okay with that, too.

 

They've already said there will be Leia footage used in IX

 

If Kylo is involved in her scene, then yes.
