    I can't recall! Are we able to see if his saber is hanging from his belt? I just wonder if some of the rumors were true, that he'd become a sort of pacifist who only meditated on the Force, but has vowed off combat.

    If he is, we can't see it. I definitely don't recall seeing a lightsaber.

    The only time we see Luke's full figure is from the back. Then we see the middle shot (only the very top of his belt is visible) and then close-up. So, if he is, we don't see it. But, I really want him too. Green lightsaber rules!

    You don't see it but I think it's confirmed that he still has his ROTJ saber. Don't take my word for it.

    I would think it is safe to assumed he would have his ROTJ saber, unless it is otherwise been noted, hinted at that their would be a reason he didn't have it.

    I'm sure he will have it in VIII and just didn't have it on the set of TFA because it wasn't possibly visible in any of the shots in the movie (canon). So it could be there you just cant see it even though it wasn't there at all for filming.

    Well, the prop department for TFA did end up making a new style Luke lightsaber hilt, as found out from one of the online BTS featurettes (I think).
